Repos Energy plans global expansion to UAE and Africa: Aditi Bhosale Walunj

India’s manufacturing sector is evolving rapidly, driven by technology, policy reforms, and a rising demand for efficiency and scale. At the same time, logistics and fuel management remain critical to sustaining this growth. In this conversation, Aditi Bhosale Walunj, Founder & CMO, Repos Energy, shares how her company is transforming fuel delivery and powering the future of industrial operations in India.

Could you share an overview of Repos Energy’s journey?
It all started on a rainy afternoon, and a book was delivered at doorstep when we thought why couldn't diesel be delivered at doorstep? At Repos, we are reimagining the way fuel powers businesses in India. We are building the world’s first Fuel Intelligence Ecosystem, and our mission is to create a carbon-neutral future through tech-enabled, customer-first solutions. Twice backed by late Mr Ratan Tata and recognised as a National Startup Award Winner under Industry 4.0, Repos has built a robust ecosystem to solve three critical pain points for bulk fuel consumers: logistics, management, and payments.

India is a developing country, consuming over 33 crore liters of diesel every day to power businesses across infrastructure, mining, construction, and manufacturing. Yet, the fuelling system remains broken - there’s no proper delivery, storage, or utilisation. In this chaos, businesses end up losing up to 10% of their monthly fuel costs.

At Repos, we are working to bring efficiency to fuel management and help businesses save costs. We are building the Repos Operating System (ROS), designed to address every fuel-related challenge:

  • Repos Hardware: Tackles procurement and storage with advanced tech anti-theft machines
  • Repos Software: Gives you complete control on your fuel data seamlessly on a mobile app or ERP
  • Repos Pay: Solves the issue of fuel credit
  • Repos AI: Predicts fuel needs and prevents pilferage

Together, these solutions create a smarter, safer, and more efficient fuelling ecosystem for businesses. Repos is present across 380+ Indian cities with over 25,000 customers, and 2,000+ fuel partners. Using IoT and AI, Repos builds solutions that are reshaping how fuel is stored, tracked and delivered -- ensuring absolute convenience and peace of mind to customers, as they completely eradicate fragmented fuelling operations and move towards technology-based solutions. It is at an intersection, to optimize the use of current fuels and prepare the world for distribution of future fuels. We serve all prominent B2B industries including logistics, infrastructure, mining, shipping, construction, power generation and RMCs.

How did your company perform last year?
The company performed exceptionally well in the year 2024-25, with its annual turnover of Rs 135 crores at a consolidated group level. We announced the country-wide launch of two large distribution partnerships – Tata Motors & Cummins India Pvt Ltd. We also expanded the manufacturing plant.

In addition, we introduced two new product lines:
  • Repos Portable Station: A smart-tech solution for consumers using over 50,000 liters of fuel, mainly in mining and logistics. It allows you to buy fuel directly from OMCs, store it in bulk, and save both on procurement hassles and fuel costs with better pricing.
  • Repos DATUM Model X & S: PESO-approved storage solutions for fuel at site. They are also designed for Gen sets and tanks. Think of it as an ATM for fuel- safe, convenient, and always accessible.

What factors give your organisation a competitive edge in the industry?
We stand out by focusing on three key areas: innovation, putting our customers first, and running our business exceptionally well. Our success comes from combining all three, not just relying on one. Also, we:

  • Have first movers' advantage in providing end-to-end solution in fuel management in the market
  • Use deep tech to transform fuel management
  • Offer solutions across the chain - from procurement to storage to payments
  • Are building strong partnerships with leading organisations like Cummins India Pvt. Ltd. and Tata Motors
  • Have developed a strong supplier network across India
  • Are building a strong service network including dedicated operational support and after sales support
What are the primary challenges faced by your business?
Primary challenge faced by Repos include the lack of acceptance of technology from the on-ground force in most cases, considering the asset ensures eradication of middlemen and any leaks in the entire process. This will change only with the acceptance of a shift of this industry towards use of technology.

How do you assess the current market scenario for the Indian manufacturing sector?
The manufacturing sector in India is seeing its rise like never before. With the vision of building a Viksit Bharat through the central government, the B2B market will play a major role in terms of its contribution towards large-level developments in all sectors. It is critical to focus on two aspects: speed and scale.
Technology will play a massive role in driving both speed and scale, and it is important to understand and adapt the ever-growing role of technology into making our work more streamlined and optimized.
With India’s increasing domestic demand and its strong global positioning, we clearly see a rising demand of manufacturing sector’s contribution.

What will be the effect of the latest GST reforms on the manufacturing sector?
GST reforms are likely to make things easier and smoother for the manufacturing sector. Certain value chains will benefit from a lower effective tax burden. Compliance processes will become clearer, reducing ambiguity. Disputes are likely to be resolved more quickly. These changes are expected to improve margins and cash flows, particularly in FMCG, electronics, auto components, and building materials.

How effective have government initiatives such as Make in India and PLI schemes been?
The initiatives have been high impact in select sectors (electronics, pharmaceuticals, telecom gear, specialty steel, auto components), crowding in FDI and building supplier ecosystems. However, manufacturing’s share of GDP remains near ~17%, showing that there is scope to add more value locally and grow beyond just assembly.

What emerging trends do you see shaping the future of manufacturing?
India is an aspirational country. With growing aspirations, the demand for goods, automobiles, appliances, and more is steadily rising. Data shows that 25 million people are entering the middle class, further boosting this demand. This surge is driving growth in manufacturing and e-commerce but also pushing up logistics costs.
With Repos solutions, we aim to bring logistics costs down from 14% to 8%, creating a more efficient and cost-effective system.

We are also looking at,
  • Strong Global Positioning: With India’s rising global positioning and effective labor costs, we see a strong prediction in rising FDI and manufacturing orders to the nations from across the world.
  • Digitized factories: Wider adoption of AI-driven quality control, predictive maintenance, and digital twins can be integrated with our existing strengths to build a strong moat for the nation’s manufacturing capabilities.
  • Resilient logistics: National-scale multimodal logistics and warehousing upgrades (GatiShakti) will compress lead times and logistics cost share of GDP, improving export competitiveness.
What are your growth plans for the company?
Looking ahead, our company aims to grow steadily and make the most of new opportunities in FY 2025-26. Building on what we achieved last year, we will focus on innovation, improving efficiency, and expanding into new markets to stay competitive and create lasting value.

Yet, the following would be our focus points:

  • Solving for the risen logistics costs by optimising use of diesel.
  • Serving multiple government and state-government bodies to optimise their existing fuelling.
  • Global expansion to UAE and African markets.
