LG Electronics has announced plans to establish its third manufacturing plant in India, with an investment of Rs 50 billion at Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. This major expansion reinforces Sri City’s standing as a premier industrial hub, already home to over 235 companies from 31 countries.
Sri City’s Special Economic Zone (SEZ) hosts global brands across diverse sectors: Colgate-Palmolive’s facility produces over 40% of India’s toothbrushes; PepsiCo operates its largest Indian manufacturing unit sourcing mango pulp from 32,000 farmers; and major hygiene players like Kimberly-Clark and Unicharm reach vast global markets.
In climate control, Daikin leads a robust cluster with Bluestar, Havells, Amber, and Epack, targeting 50% of India’s AC production by 2027 and 80% of its AC exports. Isuzu Motors India has emerged as Andhra Pradesh’s top vehicle exporter, while BFG India supplies advanced FRP components to metro rail projects and the Kochi Water Metro.
Sri City’s cumulative exports have surpassed $6.5 billion, contributing to India’s foreign exchange reserves and strengthening the Make in India initiative. The zone is also India’s second-largest investment destination for Japanese firms, highlighting its growing global significance.
