Lenovo’s local manufacturing caters to 15-20% demand in India. The company plans to increase it to 30-35%. Total revenue for all Lenovo Group businesses in India was $462 million for Q1FY22, up 31.3% YoY.
Lenovo expands manufacturing portfolio in India

Lenovo’s local manufacturing caters to 15-20% demand in India. The company plans to increase it to 30-35% to help meet increasing customer demand. Total revenue for all Lenovo Group businesses in India was $462 million for Q1FY22, up 31.3% YoY.
 
Some of the expansion initiatives include a third manufacturing line in its in-house PC manufacturing plant in Puducherry, a local manufacturing partnership with Wingtech Technology to produce tablet computers at a plant in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh and local manufacturing of smartphones for Motorola in partnership with Dixon Technologies at Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

These initiatives strengthen Lenovo’s commitment to India’s AatmaNirbhar Bharat vision. They also add to Lenovo’s global manufacturing and supply chain strategy that serves customers in 180 markets from 30+ manufacturing sites.

Lenovo has also invested in employment and skill-building for its 1,500 direct and indirect employees working across its manufacturing plants. The production staff are trained in manufacturing skills and provided with on-the-job training by senior staff members. There is also a facility to attain official certifications through the Motorola Skills Academy or partner organizations such as TechnoServe.

Currently, Lenovo’s local manufacturing caters to 15-20% of demand in India. The company plans to increase it to 30-35%. 

Total revenue for all Lenovo Group businesses in India was $462 million for Q1FY22, up 31.3% YoY. The current ready capacity is 2 million PC products and 0.5 million tablets.
