Thermax Babcock & Wilcox bags Rs 5.13 bn boiler order in Botswana

Thermax Babcock & Wilcox Energy Solutions has secured a Rs 5.13 billion  contract from a prominent industrial conglomerate to deliver two boilers for an energy project in Botswana, Southern Africa.

The order entails supplying two 550 TPH CFBC (circulating fluidised bed combustion) boilers over a 23-month period, aimed at supporting a 600 MW greenfield energy initiative in Botswana. This project's first phase involves establishing a 300 MW power station, with Thermax Babcock & Wilcox Energy Solutions Ltd (TBWES), a wholly owned subsidiary of Thermax, handling design, engineering, manufacturing, testing, supply, erection & commissioning supervision, and performance testing.  The generated power is slated for sale to the national utility company, addressing Botswana's growing energy demands.

Ashish Bhandari, Managing Director & CEO, Thermax, expressed enthusiasm about this milestone, highlighting TBWES's commitment to delivering efficient and reliable boiler solutions that enhance operational sustainability and reduce emissions in the power sector.  TBWES specialises in providing comprehensive steam generation solutions using solid, liquid, and gaseous fuels, alongside heat recovery systems from turbine and industrial process exhausts, serving industries such as chemicals, petrochemicals, and refineries with tailored heating solutions.
