Waaree Signs 100MWp Solar EPC Deal with Viet Khanh, Boosts India-Vietnam Ties

New Delhi

Waaree Renewable Technologies Ltd and Viet Khanh Joint Stock Company have signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to carry out turnkey EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) works for a 100MWp photovoltaic solar power project in Ea Mdrod commune, C? Mgar district, Daklak province, Vietnam. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in clean energy cooperation between India and Vietnam and represents the second partnership between Waaree Group and Viet Khanh, following the successful delivery of a 49.5MW project in Cam Ranh province in 2019.

The MoU reaffirms the strong working relationship between the two entities, encompassing complete design, engineering, construction, testing and grid connectivity of the solar installation.

This initiative is a natural progression from the earlier 49.5MW solar project delivered by Waaree in 2018–19, which continues to be recognised as one of the most efficient solar power installations in Vietnam. Waaree’s consistent performance and engineering expertise have built the trust that underpins this new and ambitious 100MWp venture.

“Our 49.5MW solar project delivered in 2018–19 remains one of Vietnam’s highest-performing solar installations. The professionalism and quality demonstrated by Waaree have earned our continued confidence. We are delighted to extend our partnership for the forthcoming 100MWp project and aim to develop one of the region’s most efficient clean energy assets,” said Dinh Xuan Hai Sang, Chairman, Viet Khanh Joint Stock Company.

“We are proud to strengthen our collaboration with Viet Khanh through this landmark project. It highlights Waaree’s global reputation for delivering reliable, high-performance solar infrastructure. Our shared commitment to sustainability and clean energy transition aligns with Vietnam’s national energy strategy,” said Viren Doshi, Executive Director, Waaree Renewable Technologies Ltd.

This initiative showcases how global partnerships can accelerate sustainable energy development in Southeast Asia. Waaree, India’s largest solar module manufacturer—with over 20GW capacity deployed across more than 20 countries—brings full-spectrum expertise from module manufacturing to project execution.

The project contributes meaningfully to both nations' renewable energy ambitions. It supports Vietnam’s PDP8 roadmap, which targets 30.9% renewable energy by 2030, and aligns with India’s Act East Policy by strengthening its role in exporting clean technology and climate solutions.

Once operational, the 100MWp solar plant is projected to offset over 130,000 metric tonnes of CO? emissions annually—the equivalent of planting more than 2 million trees per year. The project not only reduces dependence on fossil fuels but also improves air quality, preserves biodiversity, and sets a precedent for renewable deployment in rural and semi-urban Vietnam.

This partnership exemplifies how emerging economies can combine innovation, policy, and investment to confront climate change while fostering economic growth and energy access.
