Trane Launches DCDA CDU Series for High-Density Data Centres in Asia Pacific

Trane Technologies a  global climate innovator has announced the launch of its DCDA series, the first locally developed Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU) designed specifically for data centres in the Asia Pacific region. Tailored to regional liquid-cooling requirements, the DCDA series addresses heat dissipation challenges driven by high-density computing. Offering system flexibility, energy efficiency and strong integration capabilities, it provides an efficient, reliable and sustainable liquid-cooling solution for data centres.

Rapid growth in AI computing and the rise of high-power-density equipment are pushing traditional air-cooling systems beyond their limits. Liquid cooling is increasingly becoming the preferred option for data centre heat dissipation. UBS forecasts a compound annual growth rate of 51 per cent for the global direct liquid-cooling data centre market between 2024 and 2030. As adoption accelerates, managing high-density thermal loads and complex system integration has emerged as a critical industry challenge.

“The launch of our new CDU marks a technological breakthrough and a significant step in advancing high-density data centres in Asia Pacific,” said Bruce Zhongping Gu, Vice President, Engineering and Technology, Trane Technologies Asia Pacific. “Building on more than a century of climate expertise and deep regional insight, our CDU series delivers efficiency, flexibility and customisation to meet evolving market needs.”

Compact and Flexible Design

Designed to meet space constraints in high-density environments, the DCDA series aligns with standard server racks and supports both in-row and in-room deployment. Its full front-access maintenance architecture allows wall-mounted or back-to-back installation, eliminating rear service aisles and saving up to 20 per cent of floor space. Rail-mounted water pumps and angled filters support online maintenance, enabling stable, continuous operation with minimal disruption.

Built on a modular platform, the DCDA series supports multiple pipe-connection directions and optional sensors for temperature, pressure, turbidity, pH and conductivity, enabling precise coolant monitoring and intelligent adjustment. Integrated ATS, UPS and APF options support varied power and harmonic control requirements, allowing flexible configuration to balance performance and cost.

Performance and Intelligent Control

The DCDA series is available in 400 kW, 800 kW and 1,350 kW models, with configurable expansion up to 1,700 kW to support hyperscale and AI data centres. High-efficiency variable-frequency water pumps and intelligent control algorithms dynamically adjust output based on real-time load, reducing energy consumption under partial-load conditions.

This design enables liquid-cooling systems to achieve a Power Usage Effectiveness as low as 1.1, reducing overall energy consumption and delivering operational cost savings while supporting sustainability goals.

Reliability and System Integration

For large-scale deployments, the DCDA series supports coordinated operation of up to 16 units and integrates with building automation systems through Modbus, BACnet, SNMP and Ethernet TCP/IP protocols. Trane’s TSAP selection platform generates whole-unit performance reports and simulates compatibility with existing systems, supporting more reliable planning and selection.

The DCDA series has received CE and RoHS certifications and has undergone rigorous testing under extreme conditions at the Trane Technologies Asia-Pacific Engineering and Technology Center. The first batch of orders from China is expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2026, reflecting strong market acceptance of Trane’s liquid-cooling technologies.
