Taypro aims to be a performance-driven automation provider: Yogesh Kudale

Kindly brief us about Taypro. How are you serving the solar energy sector?
Taypro is a solar O&M technology company focused on improving energy yield, reliability, and sustainability of large-scale solar assets. We serve the sector through AI-driven, waterless robotic cleaning solutions, as one of the most considerable operational challenges in solar is soiling losses.
By allowing high-frequency and regular cleaning independent of water or labor, TAYPRO empowers utility-scale plants to regain lost generation, perform performance ratios with stability, and ultimately long-term asset reliability and financial returns.

What are the key challenges before solar plant operators when it comes maintenance?
Soiling-related energy losses represent one of the biggest maintenance challenges. Dust, by itself, can result in a 10-to-30 percent reduction in annual power output. The traditional maintenance approach is very water-intensive and labor-driven, resulting in a restricted ability to maintain the solar panels, uncleanliness variability, and other potential risks associated with traditional maintenance.

How is waterless robotic cleaning changing the economics of solar plant operations globally?
Waterless robotic cleaning profoundly transforms the economic feasibility of solar farms because it eliminates the cost of water, further reduces the need to rely on labor, and makes it possible to clean the panels on a regular basis. At Taypro’s waterless robots, solar farms are able to regain between 6-12 per cent of the lost generation and enhance the performance ratio between 1.5-3 percentage points while maintaining an availability rate of above 99.5 per cent of the time.

How critical will AI-led predictive maintenance be in sustaining high performance ratios?
Predictive maintenance led by artificial intelligence is critical to maintaining high performance ratios on a large scale. Where other trackers may be reactive about their maintenance, focusing on responding to problems when they arise, TAYPRO is a proactive system that seeks to monitor a range of parameters including motor load, battery condition, resistance to movement, or cleanliness.

What are the biggest adoption barriers for robotics and automation in solar O&M, particularly in emerging markets like India?
The major barriers include upfront capital investment concerns, reliability in harsh and remote environments, and integration into existing O&M practices. Taypro addresses these challenges through flexible CAPEX and OPEX deployment models, proven operation in extreme dust and temperature conditions, and AI-driven automation that reduces dependence on skilled manpower and water, both structural constraints in emerging markets.

Is the industry giving enough weight to lifecycle efficiency and sustainability, beyond installed capacity and headline generation numbers?
Historically, the industry was more interested in installed capacity and, more importantly, megawatt production than anything else. But as scaling up is now gaining prominence, and so is the efficiency and sustainability that comes from it, waterless automation, high uptime, and performance ratios are no longer niceties but necessities, so is efficient solar power production that is waterless and sustainable.

How does Taypro’s patented Dual-Pass Cleaning Technology deliver superior cleaning consistency and reliability at scale?
The nature of the dust is also quite diverse in deserts, agricultural lands, coastal areas, and high-humidity zones. The patented Dual-Pass Cleaning Technology in Taypro’s product is engineered to address the diversity. The first pass involves the use of airflow to remove loose and abrasive dust without dragging it on the module surface. The second pass involves the use of microfiber contact for the removal of fine and sticky dust.

How do CAPEX and OPEX deployment models help plant owners transition to robotic cleaning without disrupting project viability?
TAYPRO comes in both CAPEX and OPEX models to suit various plant and financial arrangements. In CAPEX arrangements, owners acquire benefits of optimal cost expenditure and optimal economic conditions in maintaining their assets in the long run. On the other hand, in OPEX arrangements, robotic floor cleaning can now be considered a known expenditure in terms of service level agreements for optimised outcomes. Plants have a payback period of 12-18 months.

What tangible efficiency or cost gains have clients such as Tata Power and Avaada reported after deploying TAYPRO’s solutions?
At Avaada’s solar power plants, Taypro robots worked effectively on slopes ranging between 15° and 17°, even when exposed to heavy dust, showing improvement in performance by as much as 5 percent. Introduction of the robots minimised labor dependence and risks. At Tata Power Renewable Energy and Amplus Solar power plants, TAYPRO robots provided 8–12 percent performance improvement while reducing risks in cement dust-prone areas.

As TAYPRO expands into Africa and the MENA region, what market realities are shaping your global growth strategy?
Africa and the MENA countries are some of the most rapidly emerging solar markets, and they are particularly noted for very high irradiance, very high temperatures, very intense dust, and very severe water scarcity. For such conditions, solutions need to be more dependable, water-independent, and automation-driven. Taypro aims to position itself as a performance-oriented automation solutions provider, whose solutions are tailored for desert operations, tracker-mounted systems, and remote locations, aided by AI-driven scheduling and maintenance.

What are your short- and long-term growth plans?
Taypro’s short-term goal is to continuously innovate and advance robotic module cleaning technologies that improve the performance ratio, efficiency, and reliability of solar power plants, while its long-term goal is to achieve 100 GW of robotic solar module cleaning deployment by 2030, driving large-scale optimisation of solar assets and supporting the global transition to clean energy.
