Suzuki, Maruti to establish Osamu Suzuki Centre of Excellence in India

Suzuki Motor Corporation and Maruti Suzuki India will establish the Osamu Suzuki Centre of Excellence (OSCOE) in Gujarat and Haryana, in honour of the late Osamu Suzuki, the former Chairman of Suzuki Motor Corporation. The announcement was made during a remembrance ceremony at Yashobhoomi, Delhi, following Suzuki’s passing on December 25, 2024.

The centre aims to uphold Suzuki’s legacy of promoting efficiency, fairness, and inclusivity in manufacturing. OSCOE will focus on enhancing India’s manufacturing capabilities, particularly in the automotive sector, by supporting the upskilling of component manufacturers across tier 1, 2, and 3 suppliers and strengthening the global competitiveness of supply chains.

It will also foster the adoption of Japanese manufacturing philosophies through partnerships with academic institutions and knowledge-sharing initiatives such as lectures, seminars, and workshops. The initiative aligns with India’s broader ambition of driving high growth in its manufacturing sector, guided by Suzuki’s long-standing contributions to industrial development and social harmony.
