Musashi India Signs LOI With Kinetic Green for EV Powertrains

Musashi India Pvt Ltd has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Kinetic Green Energy & Power Solutions Limited, Pune, for the supply of integrated electric powertrain systems for Kinetic Green’s upcoming two-wheeler platforms. The agreement reinforces both companies’ commitment to advancing electric mobility solutions in India.

Under the partnership, Musashi India will supply a side-mounted e-Axle, an integrated complete powertrain solution comprising a motor, gearbox and controller (VCU & MCU), for Kinetic Green’s next-generation electric two-wheelers. Pilot batch supplies will commence in December 2026, followed by start of production (SOP) at Musashi Delta e-Axle India’s existing facility in Bengaluru.

The powertrain solution will feature a 4.7 kW IPM motor integrated with a gearbox in a side-mounted e-Axle configuration, designed to deliver improved performance, efficiency and reliability for the two-wheeler segment. Musashi has developed the two-wheeler side-mounted e-Axle by leveraging its expertise in integrating the gearbox, motor and controller into a single compact unit.

The advanced solution is designed to deliver higher range, which may help customers optimise battery costs through size reduction, while ensuring high durability and lower service and maintenance requirements compared to centre- and hub-mounted drive systems. The side-mounted configuration also allows for increased luggage space compared to conventional centre-mounted designs.

“This LOI marks an important milestone in our journey to support India’s transition to electric mobility. Our integrated powertrain solution reflects Musashi’s focus on innovation, efficiency, and reliability. We are pleased to partner with Kinetic Green and look forward to building a long-term collaboration that brings advanced mobility technologies to the market,” said Naoya Nishimura, CEO, Musashi India & Africa region.

Dr Sulajja Firodia Motwani, Founder and CEO, Kinetic Green, said, “At Kinetic Green, we believe the future of mobility is electric, intelligent, and sustainable — and every partnership we forge must be anchored in that conviction. Our collaboration with Musashi India is a powerful step forward in that direction. Through this collaboration, we are making world-class powertrain technology accessible to the everyday Indian consumer — without compromise on performance, reliability, or value. At Kinetic Green, we remain deeply committed to accelerating India's green mobility transition, and partnerships like this one are at the heart of how we will get there.”

The collaboration is envisioned as a long-term strategic partnership, with Kinetic Green also aligning to adopt Musashi’s next-generation technologies in future phases of the programme, including advancements under its upcoming platforms.

Musashi India continues to strengthen its position in the electric mobility ecosystem by delivering advanced, integrated powertrain solutions tailored to evolving market needs, while supporting OEMs in accelerating the transition to sustainable transportation.
