ZF, a global leader in driveline and chassis technology, has
secured a milestone with three orders that place it at the centre of India’s
move towards world-class road safety processes and systems. These ZF Test
System wins, covering battery testing, tyre testing and e-axle testing, are
critical as the country accelerates its regulatory drive to make vehicle
certification more robust, independent and rigorous.
ZF Test Systems emphasises high local content under the
“Make in India” programme, extending support to the Government of India’s
strategic initiatives.
ZF Test Systems has experience of testing over 100 million
transmissions, highlighting its extensive and globally proven reliability in
transmission testing.
“Testing agencies are the final arbiters of vehicle safety,
the bodies whose certification regulators and the public trust. Being chosen
across three independent and Government agencies, for three distinct testing
disciplines, is a powerful validation of ZF's accuracy, reliability, and deep
understanding of India's regulatory and testing landscape. ZF Group is proud to
provide the technical foundation that makes world-class automotive safety
infrastructure possible in India, not just for our OEM customers but also for
Government and independent testing agencies,” stated Akash Passey, President, ZF Group India.
Thomas Trebitsch,
Vice President, ZF Test Systems and Testing, said, “Over the past years we
have been focusing on the tyre industry in India and introducing our complete
product portfolio to India. As the market develops rapidly towards regulations
and safety, there is a strong need for robust and world-class testing
technology. ZF brings its global competence and a deep understanding of the
Indian auto industry to address its specific needs.”
As electric vehicles reshape India’s automotive landscape,
battery safety is non-negotiable. ZF’s battery test systems cover the full
spectrum, from cell to module to pack, across performance and endurance,
environmental, and mechanical abuse testing. Solutions comply with UL, IEC, UN,
IS and automotive standards, including LV124, and extend to end-of-line
production validation to ensure every battery pack leaves the factory right.
Tyres are the vehicle’s first contact with the road, and
flaws in uniformity, balance or geometry translate directly into blowouts,
instability and loss of life. As India moves to make tyre testing mandatory
under BNVSAP, Quality Control Orders and the AIS 142 TPMS Mandate, it requires
real-time pressure monitoring on all new passenger vehicles.
ZF’s Tyre Efficiency Tester, TET.lab, is the world’s most
precise rolling resistance test equipment, certified compliant with all global
rolling resistance regulations. Its unique hub design delivers unmatched
measurement repeatability, while optional capabilities such as dynamic slip and
camber adjustment, tyre drive functionality and low-temperature testing give
labs the flexibility to test motorcycles, passenger cars, light trucks and
heavy commercial vehicles in a single modular platform.
More than 500 million tyres are tested across ZF Tyre Test
Systems worldwide every year, demonstrating the scale, reliability and global
reach of its advanced testing solutions.
ZF’s e-mobility test benches are built around a
high-performance drive module, pairing a drive bearing module with a
customisable receiving module for the test object. The modular architecture
handles conventional car transmissions and electric drivetrains alike, with
fixed, inclinable or swivelling configurations available for single or
multi-machine operation. Frequency converters, precision measurement
technology, automation and high-dynamic control complete the system.
With deep expertise in test systems deployed across
manufacturers and testing authorities worldwide, ZF is placed to support India’s
ambition to build a world-class automotive ecosystem that is safe and
sustainable. As regulatory requirements tighten and quality expectations rise,
ZF remains the technology partner of choice, ranging from production to
certification.
