Musashi India Expands Bengaluru Plant to Boost Transmission Output

Musashi India, the wholly owned subsidiary of Musashi Seimitsu Industries, has completed Phase 2 of its Bengaluru facility expansion, with the upgraded plant set to become fully operational by December 2025. Spread across 32,000 sq m—of which 11,000 sq m has been added in this phase—the facility now integrates enhanced forging, machining and heat-treatment capabilities. With these upgrades, annual production capacity has increased from 4 million to 6.5 million transmission sets for scooters and motorcycles, while annual output value is expected to rise from Rs 5.5 billion to Rs 10 billion.

The expanded plant will strengthen Musashi India’s role across both ICE and EV supply chains, supporting products ranging from 100–750 cc motorcycle components and 100–125 cc scooter transmissions to e-axles for two-wheelers and three-wheelers. The upgraded facility will cater to domestic OEMs as well as export markets.

Equipped with high-technology automation—including gear-grinding systems, automated gear-checking, camera-based inspection and robotic handling—the plant is designed to improve accuracy, efficiency and throughput. It will also function as a prototype and testing hub for driveline components for both ICE and EV platforms.

Sustainability features are central to the expansion. The plant incorporates a 2.16 million kWh rooftop solar installation, natural ventilation systems and advanced emission-control technologies, helping achieve 96 per cent green-energy usage sourced from hydro, wind, rooftop solar and captive renewable systems. These measures align with Musashi’s global goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2038.
