JSW Cement, one of India’s leading green cement producers and part of the diversified JSW Group, has commenced production at its greenfield, integrated cement manufacturing plant in Nagaur district, Rajasthan—its first such facility in north India.

With this expansion, the company’s total cement grinding capacity stands at 24.1 MTPA, while total clinker manufacturing capacity (including the clinker capacity at its joint venture, JSW Cement FZC) stands at 9.74 MTPA.

The Nagaur plant includes a 3.30 MTPA clinkerisation unit and a 2.50 MTPA cement grinding unit. An additional 1.00 MTPA cement grinding unit is under construction at the site. Strategically located, the facility will cater to markets in Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, and the National Capital Region (NCR).

The project has been funded through a mix of equity and long-term debt. JSW Cement allocated Rs 8 billion from the fresh issue proceeds of its Initial Public Offering (IPO) towards part-financing the unit.

As outlined during our IPO, this marks our entry into the fast-growing northern market and strengthens our position as a pan-India player. We look forward to supporting regional growth. The plant was commissioned within 21 months, reflecting our execution capabilities. With this, we remain on track to achieve 41.85 MTPA capacity on or before FY29.”

Nilesh Narwekar, CEO, JSW Cement, added: “Entering the north Indian market is a strategic priority. These regions are witnessing strong growth and infrastructure development. The Nagaur facility will enable us to deliver high-quality, eco-friendly cement with world-class service. This expansion brings us closer to our mid-term capacity target of 41.85 MTPA in India and our long-term goal of 60 MTPA.”

The plant has been designed with a focus on sustainable manufacturing. It includes provisions for co-processing alternative fuels in the kiln and a 7-km overland belt conveyor to transport limestone from mines, reducing reliance on road transport. The facility will also feature a 16 MW Waste Heat Recovery System (WHRS) to capture and reuse process heat, lowering its carbon footprint.
