Inteva Products expands Pune plant to meet growing automotive demand

U.S.-based automotive systems leader Inteva Products LLC announced its plans to expand its Chakan manufacturing facility in Pune, India, in response to rising domestic automotive demand. This $3.3 million investment will boost production capacity by 70%, extending the plant's footprint to 85,000 square feet and adding 26,000 square feet of office space. The expansion will introduce new assembly lines for window regulators, latches, and motor assemblies, enhancing Inteva’s supply chain capabilities and supporting existing customers in India.

This expansion will create 100 new jobs, aligning with Inteva's focus on local talent and India’s vision for self-reliance in automotive manufacturing. "This expansion reflects our commitment to the Indian market, which plays a critical role in our global growth strategy," stated Gerard Roose, President and CEO, Inteva Products. "As demand for high-quality automotive components continues to rise, we are proud to increase our capacity to better serve our customers and create valuable local employment opportunities."

The Chakan plant, which began operations in 2008, is a key supplier of components such as side door latches, liftgate latches, window regulators, and motors for both Indian and international markets, including South Africa and North America. As part of the current expansion, Inteva will add five new assembly lines, bringing the total to 17, with a goal of increasing window regulator production to 6.3 million units by the end of next year, according to Sanjay Kataria, Vice President and Managing Director, Inteva India.

In addition to its Pune facility, Inteva operates a technical centre in Bengaluru with a team of 317, including 200 engineers, who support product development and engineering for global and Indian operations. Inteva’s investment in India is part of its strategy to strengthen its presence in emerging markets, contributing to both local and global automotive supply chains.

Formed in 2008, Inteva Products is a global automotive supplier specialising in Closure Systems, Interior Systems, and Motors & Electronics, with a focus on innovation and sustainability. Employing over 8,000 people across 30 locations, Inteva is headquartered in Troy, Michigan, USA.
