IMTEX 2025 bolsters global collaboration in machine tools

With 1,100 exhibitors and a record 133,166 business visitors from 70 countries, IMTEX 2025 demonstrated the strength of the Indian machine tool industry to meet the emerging demands of various industry sectors, reports Rakesh Rao.
IMTEX 2025 bolsters global collaboration in machine tools

IMTEX 2025, held from January 23-29, 2025 at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), reinforced its status as the leading global machine tool and manufacturing technology exhibition with orders worth Rs 35 billion being book during the event. The expo also provided an ideal platform for collaboration and growth in manufacturing industry. With 1,100 exhibitors and a record 133,166 business visitors from 70 countries, IMTEX 2025 witnessed groundbreaking innovations, cutting-edge technologies, high-productivity solutions, digital transformations, and new product launches. 

Organised by Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association (IMTMA), IMTEX 2025 - along with concurrent shows of Tooltech 2025 and Digital Manufacturing 2025 - showcased at IMTEX 2025 demonstrated the strength of the Indian machine tool industry to meet the emerging demands of various industry sectors. “Indian companies were at the forefront of showcasing products designed and developed in India to meet domestic demands. Indian OEMs had a significant presence with a large number of machines to suit a wide range of applications. Companies were upbeat on their prospects of expanding their market presence in India and overseas and this is a great moment for Indian manufacturing," stated Rajendra S Rajamane, President, IMTMA.

Live demonstrations of technologies provided business visitors with a first-hand experience of their potential to transform entire manufacturing processes. IMTEX 2025 garnered an overwhelmingly positive response from business visitors who expressed enthusiasm for the innovations and networking opportunities. Jibak Dasgupta, Director General & CEO, IMTMA, said, “IMTEX 2025 had a lot to offer for both exhibitors and visitors. The technological advancements showcased attracted trade delegations and international buyers, resulting in good business orders and enquiries.”

The exhibition venue was a lively platform for business generation, with numerous deals and partnerships being forged. Companies that participated in the exhibition secured major contracts, which will drive manufacturing growth. Smart Manufacturing & Enterprises (SME) spoke to participants to know their latest offerings, technological trends and their future plans.


Brother Machinery displays Made-in-India machines at IMTEX 2025

Brother Machinery India Pvt Ltd, a part of the Japan-based Brother Group, displayed its make-in-India machines at IMTEX 2025. The group, which has invested about Yen 2 billion to set up a machine tool production plant near Bengaluru, started the production unit last year. “Brother Machinery India was established in 2022 with the purpose to set up a repair facility and supply spare parts to its customers. But, after establishing the company, we understood the need for the quick delivery of machines, and hence, within one year time, we took a decision to establish the factory in India and have production, sales, and after sales service under one roof within the country. We started manufacturing in 2024,” said Eric T Namikata, Managing Director, Brother Machinery India Pvt Ltd, who returned to India in April 2024 after a break of five years. During his earlier stint, he worked in the country from 2011 to 2019. 

At IMTEX 2025, Brother Machinery showcased its India-made SPEEDIO S700Bd1 that drives greater productivity in the rapidly expanding Indian manufacturing market. “We manufacture India-made SPEEDIO S700Bd1 in India. This is similar to what we make in Japan. In fact, it is one of the global bestselling models. The “B” in the name stands for “Bharat”. Through this machine, we want to showcase our commitment for local production. From December 2024, we have started the dispatch on made-in-India machines,” he added.

At the moment, the company is targeting India market with primary focus on the automotive industry - four wheelers, trailers, three wheelers, etc, but has big expectations and plans for India. “In addition to automotive, we have high expectations from the non-automotive industries like aerospace, general engineering, agriculture, and medical among others, and are exploring opportunities in these industries. The company also intends to increase localisation for Made-in-India machines. We are looking to expand our locally made models. Our target to reach out to more customers – not just tier 1 & 2 customers, but also small & medium enterprises (SMEs),” disclosed Namikata.

United Grinding presents advanced grinding solutions

During IMTEX 2025, Achim Schurius, Chief Sales Officer, Walter Maschinenbau GmbH (A member of the UNITED GRINDING Group), highlighted the company’s product offerings and their relevance to the Indian market. “We are showcasing the Helitronic Power 400, one of our most advanced models, featuring automation with a wheel changer and a top loader. However, the best-selling machine in India is a more price-sensitive version based on this model, which aligns well with the market's demands. Our machines offer a unique gantry design, ensuring high stability and long operational life, making them a valuable investment.”

Ronny Müller, Head of Sales at Blohm Jung GmbH (A member of the UNITED GRINDING Group), emphasized the versatility of their grinding machines. “We provide three-axis and five-axis machines catering to various applications, including aerospace, gas turbine industries, thread rolling, and precision tooling. Our five-axis machines are particularly suited for grinding multiple sides of a part, ensuring unmatched accuracy. The demand for high-precision components continues to grow, and our machines are designed to meet these requirements.”

Looking ahead, UNITED GRINDING Group remains optimistic about its expansion in India. Schurius noted, “India is a key market with diverse industries requiring high-precision tools. While our machines are positioned at a premium price point, their superior accuracy and longevity make them ideal for Indian tool manufacturers and resharpening companies. The automotive sector remains a major driver of demand, alongside the growing electronics industry, driven by mobile phone manufacturing and 3D applications. Additionally, aerospace continues to be a significant market, with an increasing need for high-quality precision tools.”


Boehlerit offers specialised solutions for railways

The Austria-headquartered Boehlerit - the carbide and tool specialist – displayed its extensive product portfolio includes highly specialised tools for machining of crankshafts, bar peeling, tube and sheet metal processing and heavy-duty machining at IMTEX 2025. “Our core product is carbide. We are very happy to work in India with our sister company, Bilz (which is now 30 years in India). Bilz has a lot of experience and India is at the moment the most dynamic market in the world in cutting tools, growing every year around 10 per cent. So, we are here in the country to invest for long term. Because of our sister company, Bilz, we have a very nice sales organisation and a very good network here. IMTEX 2025 is incredible exhibition as you would see a wide range of innovations, international people and lot of opportunities to meet potential customers. This probably makes us happy,” said Gerhard Melcher, Head of Sales, Cutting Tools and Marketing, Boehlerit GmbH & Co KG, Austria. 

In general milling, Boehlerit has new products for bar peeling and offers an incredible engineering service for railway machining. “Railway in India is a very growing market because the government is investing a lot in infrastructure. For railways, we offer special cutter because the profile is very different. To produce new railways, you need also for a restore tracks as India has the longest railway line in the world. In the past, a lot of companies were grinding this. Now, we have come up with a milling solution,” he informed. 

Boehlerit is the market leader in bar peeling for steel production, specially focusing on difficult materials such as stainless steel, duplex, inconel, hastelloy and titanium. The demand for these materials is growing very fast as they are used in the industries such as defense, aircraft, energy, etc. Speaking about the company’s future plans in India, Gerhard Melcher said, “In India, we are investing in engineers, technical & application people, as well as increasing our dealer network. As Bilz has a production facility in Bangalore, we have a big advantage with India showing robust demand growth.” 


Dormer Pramet displays commitment to India

Dormer Pramet, a global leader in cutting tool solutions, highlighted its focus on India and Asia at IMTEX. Oliver Sax, VP Global Sales & Marketing, Dormer Pramet, emphasised the company’s commitment to serving the Indian market through its 2020 acquisition of Miranda Tools. This move not only strengthened Dormer Pramet’s local footprint but also enabled the company to integrate global technologies with regional expertise, ensuring solutions tailored to India’s evolving manufacturing landscape.

Sharad Kulkarni, Director Sales Area - Asia, Dormet Pramet India Pvt Ltd, reiterated the strategic importance of India within the company’s broader Asian expansion. “India’s manufacturing sector is undergoing a transformation driven by the ‘Make in India’ initiative. Our investment in Miranda reflects our belief in India’s growth potential across automotive, aerospace, defence, and railways,” he noted. Kulkarni also highlighted Dormer Pramet’s extensive distribution infrastructure across Asia, ensuring accessibility of high-speed steel (HSS), solid carbide, and indexable tools to manufacturers of all sizes. He further elaborated on the company’s efforts to build a strong technical team in India, providing end-users with guidance to maximize productivity and cost savings.

A key theme at IMTEX was the growing need for advanced machining solutions to enhance productivity and efficiency. Sax pointed out that Dormer Pramet’s latest high-feed indexable milling tools and new cutting geometries offer up to 300 per cent productivity improvements, helping Indian manufacturers optimise processes and reduce costs. “India has made significant investments in advanced machinery, and our solutions help maximise these investments by boosting machining performance,” he said. He also noted the increasing role of solid carbide tools in high-speed machining, as machine speeds increase and sizes become more compact.

Sustainability was another major focus at IMTEX. Dormer Pramet has transitioned Miranda’s heat treatment process from salt bath furnaces to vacuum technology, significantly reducing environmental impact. “Our approach to sustainability extends beyond tools; it includes packaging, material recycling, and workplace safety enhancements,” said Kulkarni. He cited Dormer Pramet’s commitment to providing recyclable packaging and its involvement in a broader group initiative to recycle used carbide tools into new material.

Regarding brand evolution, Amaya Albisu, VP - Communication, Brand & Marketing, Dormet Pramet, stated that Dormer Pramet’s refreshed identity aims to unify its global presence while maintaining strong local brands like Miranda in India. “Our commitment is to deliver certainty at every turn, ensuring product performance and reliability,” she stated. She noted that customer feedback played a crucial role in shaping the new brand identity, emphasising trust and dependability.

HARDY showcases special solutions for SPMs

The Taiwan-based Hann Kuen Machinery & Hardware Co. Ltd (Hardy) specialises in manufacturing spindles and slides for Special Purpose Machines (SPMs). The company caters to high-precision machine transfer solutions and high-production machines. Currently, Hardy manufactures over 100–150 types of spindles and more than 100,000 types of slides.

“Our technology portfolio is diverse. In slide systems, we offer solutions using linear guides as well as box ways, and we continue to employ traditional scraping techniques. For spindles, we provide high-speed as well as low-speed but high-rigidity spindles. We also have expertise in preloading high-speed bearings and applying heavy preloading techniques for angular contact bearings,” commented Jack Liao, Sales & Marketing, Sales Manager, HARDY.

Sandvik Coromant aims to empower youth through training

At IMTEX 2025, Sandvik Coromant India exhibited its "Manufacturing Wellness" concept, emphasising sustainability, digitalisation, and automation. The initiative focuses on a holistic approach to manufacturing, integrating people, technology, and knowledge to enhance efficiency and resilience. By expanding its role beyond cutting tools to include component design, process planning, and operations, the company aims to optimise the entire manufacturing value chain. With a strong commitment to R&D, Sandvik Coromant launches around 2,500 new products annually, further driving innovation in the industry. A major new product is set for launch in March, poised to revolutionise the hole-making segment.

Speaking about the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, Sunil Joshi, President, Sandvik Coromant India, highlighted their ITI Pune program. "As part of our CSR initiative, we run a training program in Pune, where approximately 300 students graduate annually. The program is conducted in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra, ensuring industry-relevant skill development. In addition to this, we offer advanced training courses on metal cutting and machining, reaching nearly 1,000 professionals each year. Through these initiatives, we aim to bridge the skill gap in the manufacturing sector and encourage recruitment from our training programs," he stated.

Looking ahead, Sandvik Coromant is focused on strengthening its presence in India. The Pune facility, already the company’s second-largest insert manufacturing plant, will play a crucial role in expansion plans. The company is investing significantly in people, technology, and knowledge to support its growth strategy, anticipating high double-digit growth in India over the next three to five years. While the automotive sector remains dominant, aerospace is emerging as a key growth area, offering exciting opportunities alongside general engineering. The company’s long-term vision aligns with India's industrial growth, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and sustainability.

AMF displays innovative workholding solutions

Andreas Mayer Workforce Technology Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of the 135-year-old German company Andreas Maier GmbH & Co KG (AMF), showcased its extensive range of workholding solutions at IMTEX 2025. Specialising in clamping technology for milling machines, the company offers over 7,000 products, including traditional mechanical clamps, clamping cylinders, magnetic and vacuum clamping plates, toggle clamps, and its latest zero-point clamping systems.

With a strong global presence across Europe and the US, AMF has been operating in India for 35 years, officially establishing its subsidiary in 2009. The company primarily caters to industries such as automotive, machine tools, textiles, and pharmaceuticals. Its focus is on enhancing machine productivity and reducing downtime, helping manufacturers maximise efficiency even with limited availability of skilled labour.

“Our key highlight at IMTEX 2025 is the zero-point clamping system, an innovative solution that is gaining significant traction among customers. Originally developed 30 years ago, this system is now increasingly sought after as manufacturers invest in high-end machines and seek to optimise their operational efficiency. By minimising setup time and dependency on skilled operators, zero-point clamping ensures continuous production, maximising machine profitability,” stated Vishwanath Ammanagi, Director - Sales & Marketing, Andreas Maier Workholding Technology Pvt Ltd.

Looking ahead, AMF sees strong growth potential in India, driven by the country’s expanding manufacturing sector. “The company has witnessed steady growth over the past 15 years and aims to further strengthen its presence by advancing its product offerings,” he added.

CAD MAcRO launches smart tools for manufacturing efficiency

CAD MAcRO Design & Solutions - a company specialising in CAD/CAM development, ERP, MES, and CNC simulators - introduced two innovative products at IMTEX 2025. One of these is Macro Planner, designed to automatically generate cost estimates, process timings, and process planning from 3D models. The second product is an advanced CNC simulator aimed at bridging the gap in technical education by providing institutions with a PC-based virtual environment to train students without the need for real machines, raw materials, or cutting tools.

Commenting on the launch, Manickam, Managing Director, CAD MAcRO Design & Solutions, said, "The response to our new products has been overwhelming. Many machine shops are particularly interested in Macro Planner, as it helps them streamline tasks like generating reports and planning activities more efficiently. This tool can reduce the daily workload for shop floor personnel by providing precise, real-time insights into production activities."

Looking ahead, the company is working towards creating a comprehensive digital machine shop, integrating MES, IoT, and real-time data visualisation into a single dashboard. This initiative aligns with Industry 4.0 principles, offering a more streamlined, data-driven approach to manufacturing and technical education for future engineers.

Customised solutions to drive CNC India's growth

The company operates through distinct divisions: Robotics and metal handling, defence and aerospace, Special Purpose Machines (SPMs) and automation, Machine Reconditioning and Retrofitting (MRO), and fixtures. With tailor-made equipment designed to meet specific client requirements, CNC India has successfully executed diverse projects, including robotic gantry applications, automated welding stations, battery assembly lines, and end-of-line testing systems. “We provide jigs and fixtures for defence applications, including missile assembly jigs for large missiles with diameters of up to 2.4 meters. The company actively participated in IMTEX, showcasing its SPM division and robotic expertise through demonstrations of cement applications, laser marking, servo pressing, and vision tracking. “With an annual turnover of approximately Rs 1 billion and plans to grow its robotics division from Rs 200 million to Rs 300 million this year, CNC India is optimistic about sustained growth and potential expansion into European markets in the near future,” stated Raghavendra.

FAR to boost productivity with cutting-edge solutions

According to Ravi Radhakrishnan, Partner, FAR, the manufacturing landscape in India has undergone a significant transformation in the past five years. Radhakrishnan emphasised that multitasking machines, which were once exclusive to European and Japanese markets, are now gaining traction in India, reflecting a growing demand for sophisticated and efficient solutions.

The company has expanded its product range to cater to evolving market needs. One of its core offerings, Steady Rest, now includes larger variants capable of handling weights up to 50 tonne, with strong demand from both domestic and international markets. “Additionally, FAR has introduced Store Max, a storage solution that increases storage space by three times compared to traditional methods, enhances inventory tracking to nearly 99 per cent accuracy, and reduces manpower requirements significantly. Looking ahead, FAR anticipates consistent growth, targeting a 25 per cent annual increase over the next few years, aligned with India's broader industrial growth trajectory,” added Radhakrishnan.

Festo marks centennial with new innovations

Ramesh Ramachandar, Head of Sales - AEM, Festo India, highlighted that visitors can expect an exciting and informative experience from their service. He emphasised the presence of skilled engineers who will assist in providing automation solutions tailored to customers' needs. The company also introduced innovative products that were showcased for the first time in India.

Looking ahead, Festo has planned a series of events across India to mark its 100th anniversary, with some held already in Pune and Mumbai. As part of its centennial celebrations, the company aims to continue driving industry advancements and shaping the future of automation for the next 100 years, strengthening its position in the global market.

Miven Mayfran introduces next-gen conveyor system

Miven Mayfran Conveyors, based in Hubli, Karnataka, is a leading manufacturer of chip conveyance and coolant filtration systems for OEMs, including major clients like ASAMS, BFW, LMW, and Lokesh Machines. The company holds a 60% market share in India and exports its products to European and Gulf countries.

Anand Dixit, Manager of Sales - Machine Tool Products at Miven Mayfran Conveyors, shared insights about the company’s latest innovation, the ConSep 2000 conveyor system. This unique system features a 90-degree discharge design, aimed at reducing layout length. It offers two types of filtration systems: a consumable type and a non-consumable type, providing flexibility based on customer needs. The ConSep 2000 combines a chip conveyor, crusher, and oil recovery system, making it ideal for chip handling in industries with high-volume metal waste. The oil recovery system can recover up to 90 per cent of oil from the chips.

The company plans to expand its operations beyond India, with a focus on waste management and sewage treatment systems for municipal corporations. Exports currently account for 15-20 per cent of their turnover, but Miven Mayfran aims to increase this to 35-40 per cent in the near future.

Magnets India plans pan-India expansion

The Chennai-based Magnets India - a distributor for a German company Magnet-Schultz GmbH & Co. KG – is eyeing growth in the machine tools sector. “Magnet-Schultz works in the field of sensors, actuators, vibrators and related products connected to manufacturing and components for the machine tool industry. These products also find applications in industries such as food, pharmaceuticals and medical equipment,” said R Vasudevan, Proprietor, Magnets India.

Magnet-Schultz is specialists in electromagnetic actuators, sensors and valve technology. The company develops high-tech solutions for its customers from aerospace, automotive, electromechanics, hydraulics, medical technology, pneumatics and many other sectors.

With distribution primarily concentrated in areas of Bangalore and Pune, Magnets India is planning for pan-India expansion to grow the business. “Key industries for our business are automobile, food, pharmaceutical and medical equipment. We plan to expand our clientele base all across India by expanding our distribution network to other parts of the country beyond our existing presence in South and West regions,” Vasudevan commented.


Vollmer unveils innovative deburring technology

Vollmer Technologies India, established in 2012, is a prominent manufacturer and supplier of sharpening machines for Band, TCT, and HSS saws. The company also offers consulting services for sawmills, sharpening shops, and tool manufacturers. Their innovation extends to the introduction of ultrasonic deburring technology, designed primarily for deburring cutting tools, particularly HSS taps and tools. This ultrasonic method, already popular in the dental and medical industries, has been scaled up for applications in the automotive sector, such as crankshaft oil deburring.

Ravindra S D, Managing Director, Vollmer Technologies India, highlighted the company’s latest exhibit at IMTEX 2025, where they showcased their ultrasonic deburring machine alongside a five-axis CNC tool and cutter grinder for solid carbide tool production and servicing. "While the European and American markets are seeing some slowdown, the Indian market remains self-driven, largely fuelled by domestic consumption," he said.

Looking ahead, Vollmer Technologies plans to continue as a technology leader, introducing new innovations such as their laser machine for diamond cutting tool production, which will be featured at the next IMTEX edition. The company is optimistic about the future of the Indian market, despite global uncertainties.

KTA Spindle exhibits advanced hydraulic toolholders

KTA Spindle made a strong impact at IMTEX 2025 by displaying its complete range of hydraulic products and shrink-fit holders, catering to applications from small GP to 400mm GP. The company, which has a unit in Germany (HPCHO GmbH), is introducing various new designs, including slim, 3-degree strong, and 4.5-degree holders. “A major highlight of the exhibition is the debut of the face mill hydraulic holder, a first-of-its-kind product in India. This year also our their 25th anniversary,” stated Vijay Z Chopda, Director, KTA Spindle Toolings. 

As part of its expansion, the company will soon launch polygonal tool holders, branded under the ‘Capital Tool Holders’ series. Known for their complexity, these tool holders will add to KTA Spindle’s extensive portfolio of over 6,000 varieties. The company operates with a workforce of 400 employees and 200 CNC machines, ensuring large-scale production capabilities. Currently, exports contribute over 50 per cent of total revenue, sometimes exceeding 55 per cent, with a strong domestic presence supported by 120 distributors and partnerships with various OEMs. 

Speaking on industry trends, Chopda said, “We acknowledge the growth experienced under India’s current government over the past decade. The manufacturing sector, including raw material suppliers, cutting tool producers, and fluid power industries, has seen significant expansion.”

Looking ahead, KTA Spindle is focused on launching the polygonal tool holder series, which is expected to drive further business growth. Additionally, the company expects business growth of 30-40 per cent in the coming year.

Pathak Industries unveils cobot and expansion plans

The Kolkata based TL Pathak Group highlighted its expansion and focus on automation at IMTEX 2025. With a legacy dating back to 1960, the company has extended its reach beyond its hold in the eastern region by establishing a new showroom and assembly facility in Bangalore, strengthening its pan-India presence.

A key highlight of the exhibition was the launch of the company’s industrial COBOT, a six-axis collaborative robot developed in partnership with an Italian company and manufactured in Taiwan. “The versatile platform can be integrated into various automation applications, including welding, pick-and-place operations, cutting, drilling, tapping, and tightening, addressing the rising demand for automation solutions in Indian manufacturing,” opined Hitesh Pathak, COO, Pathak Industries Kol (TL Pathak Group).

In addition to COBOT, Pathak Industries showcased hydraulic machines, special-purpose machines (SPMs), and laser welding solutions, reinforcing its commitment to providing customised automation solutions that are often unavailable elsewhere in India.

The industry is undergoing a transformation, with manufacturing moving from conventional machines to CNC machines and now toward robotics-driven automation. He elaborated, “To capitalise on this shift, the company plans to open another showroom and assembly facility in Coimbatore within the next year, followed by expansion into Maharashtra to establish a nationwide presence.”

Pathak added, “Currently, exports contribute 30–35 per cent of our revenue, and we do participate in global exhibitions, our dominant focus is on expanding and supplying across the entire country.”

Bright Burnishing Tools targets global market

Bright Burnishing Tools, a leading provider of specialised burnishing tools, is recognised for offering a wide range of standard tools along with extensive expertise in application engineering and custom tool design. The company’s product offerings include advanced roller burnishing tools, indexable models in both diamond and single roller categories, and new developments in flat surface burnishing for thread rolling applications, marking a significant innovation in the industry.

We have developed several new ranges in our burnishing tools, including indexable models in the diamond and single roller categories. We have also introduced advancements in flat surface burnishing and are now offering new products for thread rolling applications, which can be performed on CNC machines.”

Looking ahead, Bright Burnishing Tools is aiming for geographical expansion to tap into international markets. Currently, the company supplies across India with a strong regional representation. In the future, it plans to target key manufacturing hubs in regions like the US, Europe, and East Asia, including Taiwan and Korea, as part of its export strategy.

Pneumec Kontrolls expands into semiconductor and steel sectors

The Bangalore-based Pneumec Kontrolls, a key distributor of Japanese industrial products in India, has introduced Fujitec’s automatic screw feeding machines at IMTEX, marking the brand’s debut in the Indian market. The company, which represents multiple Japanese brands, including Nitto Kohki, Wesel Toni, and Togawa Mini, specialises in importing and distributing advanced tools, couplers, and precision equipment across various industrial segments.

With an already strong presence in the automotive sector, Pneumec Kontrolls is now expanding into the steel structural industry and India’s growing semiconductor market. “The company is in discussions with Japanese firms to bring semiconductor-related products to India by next year. Additionally, we are strengthening our portfolio for the steel industry, particularly in bolting machines used in steel bridges, metro stations, and railway projects,” elaborated B K Nagendra, Director, Pneumec Kontrolls.

Committed to its long-standing association with Japanese engineering and work culture, Pneumec Kontrolls continues to focus exclusively on Japan for its product partnerships. “Looking ahead, we expect to achieve 30-40 per cent growth in the next one to two years, driven by its expansion into new industrial segments and increasing demand for high-precision automation solutions,” stated Nagendra.

Prominent Autotech targets global markets

Prominent Machine Tool and Prominent Autotech, operating as two specialised verticals, showcased their latest innovations at IMTEX 2025. The machine tool division focused on VDI and BMT tool holders, offering both standard and customised solutions, while Prominent Autotech specialises in tool discs, including VDA, and BMT tool discs, along with tailor-made products.

“A key highlight at the exhibition was the launch of high-demand tool discs, including BTP 63, BTP 80, and BTP 100. The exhibition response has been overwhelmingly positive, with attendees appreciating the company’s innovative engineering and product quality,” stated Gunasekaran GR, CEO & Founder, Prominent Autotech.

Encouraged by the strong market reception, Prominent Machine Tool & Auto Tech is set for significant expansion. The company aims to increase its workforce from 45 to 100 employees within the next six months. “In terms of international growth, the company, which already serves European clients, is now targeting new markets in the US, Russia, and Poland. Discussions with major OEMs are underway, and large-scale exports are expected to commence in the coming months”, commented Gunasekaran.

Quaker Chemical highlights EV solutions

Quaker Chemical India Pvt Ltd (A Quaker Houghton Company), who has been participating in IMTEX for several years, showcased its new offerings for electric vehicles (EV) this year at the expo in addition to displaying its expertise in die casting, forging, machining fluids, and rust-preventive industrial cleaners. “With a well-established presence in Europe and the US, we supply EV-specific solutions for battery machining and case machining to major OEMs. We also aim to extend this expertise to Indian EV manufacturers, aligning with the expanding EV market, said Sachin Mahajan, Marketing Manager - India, Quaker Chemical India Pvt Ltd (A Quaker Houghton Company).

Over the years, Quaker Houghton has strengthened its capabilities through strategic acquisitions. The company’s Grindaix, a German manufacturer of specialised nozzles, optimises coolant consumption and reduce burn mark issues in grinding applications. Additionally, ECLI Greases acquisition has expanded Quaker Houghton’s offerings to include high-temperature specialty greases used in aerospace, semiconductor, and robotics industries. Another key addition is Ultraseal, which provides chemical solutions for porosity control in manufacturing.

At IMTEX 2025, Quaker Chemical highlighted its automation-driven fluid intelligence solutions. These include real-time monitoring systems that track coolant concentration and pH levels, enabling manufacturers to optimise efficiency and reduce waste. The company also showcased awards from major clients like Tata Motors.

Looking ahead, Quaker Chemical is optimistic about India’s manufacturing growth, supported by the government’s Make in India initiative and industry incentives. “The company closed 2024 with over 10 per cent growth in volume and turnover and expects further expansion in 2025, driven by increasing demand in the manufacturing sector,” added Sachin Mahajan.

Secon Technologies unveils new partnerships

Secon Technologies Solutions - a 25-year-old company specialising in CNC machine tool accessories, represents leading Taiwanese brands such as Kenturn (a manufacturer of various spindle types), and EXACT Machinery Company Limited (known for CNC servo tables, index tables, and automatic indexing solutions). Additionally, Secon distributes magnetic deburring machines for aerospace applications and various CNC accessories such as collets and grippers.

At IMTEX, Secon showcased its core products, including CNC rotary tables, hydraulic index tables, and high-speed motorised spindles for turning and machining centres, with spindle speeds reaching up to 30,000 RPM. “The growing demand for CNC machine accessories in India, driven by the Make in India initiative and the increasing number of domestic OEMs manufacturing VMC and SPM machines, has contributed to Secon’s consistent growth,” said Ravi Huddar, Proprietor, Secon Technologies Solutions Inc (authorise representatives for Exact, Kenturn, Bright, Holding, Hardy, etc in India).

Looking ahead, the company aims for a 20-30 per cent growth in the next financial year and is expanding its product line-up by introducing sensor technology for CNC machines. “Secon has partnered with T-Sense, a company specialising in tool-length measurement sensors that provide real-time feedback on tool wear and breakage, enhancing machining accuracy and efficiency. This marks the first-time display of T-Sense technology in India at IMTEX,” stated Huddar.

SMT displays first made-in-India PVD coating machine

Surface Modification Technologies Pvt Ltd (SMT) is redefining surface engineering solutions with a strong focus on PVD coatings, catering to both decorative and functional applications. The company is India's largest PVD coating supplier for Titan watches and has dedicated operations in Mumbai for the pharmaceutical sector and Pune for the automotive industry. Expanding its global presence, SMT recently launched SMT Beschichtung GmbH in Germany, where it is introducing India's first locally designed and developed PVD coating machine, SMT Ion-X.

At IMTEX, SMT emphasised its role in bringing India to the forefront of global PVD coating technology. “We are the only Indian firm with complete expertise in PVD machine design and manufacturing, competing with established players from Germany, the US, Switzerland, Japan, and China. While this PVD coating machine is already operational in our coating centres, its commercial launch is expected by 2026,” remarked Dr Umesh Mhatre, MD, Surface Modification Technologies Pvt Ltd.

Beyond business, SMT is actively bridging the gap between industry and academia through structured programs for undergraduate, graduate, and PhD students. “These initiatives aim to guide students in career choices, familiarise them with industrial practices, and teach researchers financial evaluation skills to commercialise their innovations,” he said.

Looking ahead, SMT is focused on strengthening India's position as a global technology leader. Dr Mhatre stated, “The company aims to transform India from being just a consumer market into a competitive global exporter, following the model of countries like China. SMT’s long-term vision is to build a world-class Indian brand that retains domestic wealth while expanding its presence across international markets.”

SWIT showcases PFERD’s advanced robotic tooling solutions

SWIT launched PFERD’s special cutters and compliance tools designed for robotic systems, which enhance flexibility and simplify programming for industrial automation.

“As India sees a rising adoption of robotics and CNC applications, SWIT anticipates growing demand for advanced tooling solutions. However, the market is still in its early stages, with awareness about specialised end tooling and robotic spindles yet to catch up. While SWIT's growth is primarily tied to premium customers, the company sees steady long-term expansion opportunities in India's evolving automation sector.

Trishul displays ball generating machine with IoT integration

Trishul Machine Tools Pvt Ltd launched its new ball generating machine at IMTEX, marking its first public showcase. The machine, designed specifically for valve manufacturers, has received a strong response, with multiple inquiries already in place. “We are also focusing on integrating IoT technology into the machines, enhancing operational efficiency and real-time monitoring. The IoT system enables users to track production shift-wise, monitor machine uptime and downtime, and record reasons for machine idling. This feature ensures better productivity tracking, allowing businesses to optimise their operations effectively”, remarked C S Abhijith, Manager Service, Trishul Machine Tools Pvt Ltd.

Trishul Machine Tools aims to scale up production from 90 machines this year to 150–200 machines annually by next year, with exports contributing 20–30 per cent of sales. The company is also actively working on new innovations, with plans to introduce additional advanced products at the next IMTEX exhibition.

Fledon Group showcases novel material handling solutions

The Mumbai-based Fledon Group displayed its comprehensive range of material handling solutions under the brand ‘MH & More’ (Material Handling & More) at IMTEX 2025. “The company specialises in vertical storage systems designed to optimise shop floor space, enhance safety, and boost productivity for manufacturing industries. By implementing these solutions, businesses can improve workflow efficiency, create an organised workspace, and enhance their professional image,” explained Knowlton D'cruz, Executive Director - Sales & Marketing, Fledon Group (Material Handling & More).

At the exhibition, Fledon Group focused on solutions for industries such as sheet metal processing, auto component manufacturing, bars, tubes, and pipes. The company offers various products, including tool drawer trolleys, industrial workbenches, all-terrain lifter racks with a 1.5-ton capacity, and mold and tool storage solutions. Additionally, it provides high-end automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS), which can handle 45 to 75 tons on a single tower and up to 150 tons on a twin-door system. 

Fledon Group sees a strong market trend with increasing demand for material handling solutions, driven by the growing focus on organised workspaces and capital investment in automation. The company has a robust presence in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka and is now expanding its footprint in North India.

“As part of our growth strategy, we are set to open a new manufacturing plant, 30 km north of Mumbai, by October 2025. Spanning 110,000 sq ft, this facility will support not only material handling solutions but also contract manufacturing, including auto and digital component production, with a focus on exports,” stated D'cruz.

Lubi Electronics presents Hiwin’s cutting edge technologies

The Ahmedabad-based Lubi Electronics, an industrial solution provider, has partnered with Taiwan’s Hiwin Corp to supply their advanced and innovative automation solution in India. Hiwin offers motion control solutions to machine makers. “Lubi Electronics has been associated with HIWIN for the past six years. HIWIN specialises in linear motion products across India, catering to industries such as machine tools, printing, packaging, food and pharmaceuticals, textiles, and automotive. HIWIN is already a well-established and trusted brand in the market, and most of Lubi's customers are familiar with its quality and reliability. IMTEX 2025 is a significant platform for us, as the machine tools sector holds immense potential. We anticipate a 15–20 per cent growth in business from this exhibition and are confident about exciting business opportunities in the future,” stated N Venkatramani, Product Manager, Lubi Electronics.

This year in India, Hiwin is introducing linear motion applications for the automotive and semiconductor industries. “One of our key innovations is a new solution that eliminates the need for traditional ball screw applications—allowing for direct electronic operation using linear motion technology. This advancement enhances efficiency and precision, making it a breakthrough for high-tech manufacturing applications. We are optimistic about receiving strong interest and new project inquiries based on this innovation,” he said. 

Besides Hiwin, Lubi Electronics collaborates with many global players for providing solutions in the field of automation, solar panels, industrial control panels, relays, switching mode power supplies (SMPS), etc. Venkatramani elaborated, “We have multiple partners across different sectors in India, including IBK Engineers in Bangalore. Additionally, Lubi Electronics represents 27 brands, including Omron, Panasonic, Delta, Cognex, Moxa, Sanyo Denki, Weidmuller, Cognex, Inovance, Baumer, Mirle, etc.”
