GameChange Solar, a global producer of solar trackers and transformers, has announced plans to scale its transformer manufacturing capacity in India by six times through its new business unit, GameChange BOS. The company recently commissioned a greenfield medium-voltage transformer plant in Taloja, Maharashtra, with an annual capacity of 1,800–2,000 units—described by Executive Chairman and Founder Andrew Worden as the country’s largest in its category.

A second, larger plant is already planned, with a third facility under consideration at a separate site. Once all units are operational, the company expects its transformer output to increase sixfold, enabling it to cater to global markets and a significant portion of domestic demand. Worden said the expansion would allow GameChange BOS to contribute 25–33 per cent of the company’s total revenue. He declined to disclose investment figures, noting the company is privately held.

Worden said the move into transformer manufacturing was driven by customer demand. “Two years ago, we asked our customers what they needed next. They wanted transformers,” he said, adding that the expansion strengthens the firm’s global tracker business while building high-value manufacturing capabilities in India and lowering clean-energy costs worldwide.

Founded in 2012, GameChange Solar shifted from fixed-tilt racking to solar trackers in 2015 and has since deployed more than 50 GW worldwide. The company entered India five years ago as a manufacturing hub supporting US projects but has since grown the country into a key market. “We are exporting quite a bit to the US from India today, even with the 50 per cent tariffs,” Worden said, noting India’s rapidly advancing manufacturing strengths.
