The Association of Indian Medical Device Industry (AiMeD) is calling on the government to tackle the escalating import expenditure, currently exceeding Rs 63,200 crore. In a communication addressed to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, AiMeD, representing the Indian Medical Device industry, has appealed for attention to the Medical Devices Industry Proposal for Union Budget 2024-25. The aim is to address the industry's over 80 percent reliance on imports. Despite support from the Department of Pharma in the previous year, the Medical Devices Industry Proposal for Union Budget 2023-24 was overlooked, according to AiMeD.
