Skanda Aerospace launches cutting-edge aerospace gear facility in Hyderabad

Skanda Aerospace Technology, headquartered in Hyderabad, has recently established a state-of-the-art aerospace gear and gearboxes manufacturing facility, serving the needs of the defence and commercial aviation sectors. This collaborative venture, involving Hyderabad-based aerospace and defence component manufacturer Raghu Vamsi Machine Tools and the US company Rave Gears, has invested Rs 75 crore in its initial phase and plans to inject an additional Rs 150 crore over the next two to three years.

The inauguration of this groundbreaking facility was attended by Jayesh Ranjan, Industries and IT Secretary, and PA Praveen, Director of Aerospace and Defence for the Telangana government. Skanda Aerospace proudly claims that this facility is the first of its kind in India, dedicated to crafting aerospace-standard gears. Rave Gears, a renowned designer, manufacturer, and system integrator of gears and precision drive trains for aerospace, defense, automotive, and industrial clients worldwide, has committed to providing annual orders worth $9 million, according to Skanda Aerospace's press release.

The current workforce of 150 employees at the facility is projected to grow to 1,000 within the next three years.

Raghu Vamsi, Managing Director of Vamsi Vikas, stated, "Skanda's inauguration represents a significant milestone in strengthening India's aerospace and defense capabilities. This facility holds the promise of playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of aerospace manufacturing, not only in India but also on the global stage."

The primary focus of the facility will be the precision CNC manufacturing of complex aerospace gears. Skanda Aerospace has equipped the facility with world-class gear grinding machines.

Ranjan commented, "Skanda's innovative approach to aerospace gear manufacturing aligns with India's aspirations in the defence and aviation sectors. We eagerly anticipate witnessing the positive impact of this facility on both local and global aerospace industries."

In the press release, Praveen emphasised that this facility is poised to play an instrumental role in shaping the future of aerospace manufacturing in the region.
