Motherson bolsters aerospace portfolio with strategic acquisitions

Samvardhana Motherson International (Motherson) revealed a series of acquisitions aimed at bolstering its non-automotive ventures, spanning aerospace, health, and medical sectors.

According to the company's statement, Motherson's aerospace division is strategically expanding its capabilities, progressively diversifying its services for aerospace original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). This expansion includes four key acquisitions, from CIM Tools in 2022 to AD Industries, Cirma, and SMAST in 2023.

This move has strategically positioned Motherson with eight facilities in France, central to the European aerospace industry, in addition to nine facilities in cost-effective locations across India and Africa. Together, these establishments empower the division to deliver high-quality solutions to the aerospace supply chain.

Furthermore, the aerospace division is poised to capitalise on an anticipated uptick in build rates. With a substantial booked business worth $1.3 billion, coupled with robust customer support, the division is well-equipped to meet the heightened demands of the aerospace sector.

Vivek Chaand Sehgal, Chairman of Motherson, emphasised, “In line with our Vision 2025, Motherson is intensifying its focus on non-automotive sectors, leveraging our core strengths and manufacturing expertise. Our aerospace division has now established a robust presence in Asia, Europe, and Africa, enabling us to effectively serve and offer solutions to aerospace OEMs and Tier 1 customers worldwide.
