With vertical energy chain applications, mast heights and travel distances are increasing all the time, all at high speeds and rapid accelerations. In next to no time, the energy chain can swing outwards and sidewards, e.g., towards the shelving system – in particular where acute transverse accelerations are involved. If it then also hits metal brackets or pallets, damage to the chain is inevitable due to the dynamics. igus GmbH, Cologne, has now developed a system called "Guidelok" where the energy chain always remains safely on track even with mast or tower heights of up to 80 metres. The new "Guidelok" system is for vertical energy chain applications with large lifting heights in racking units, elevators, inclined elevators and material handling equipment. Compact and easy to install, also as a retrofit system, it makes energy and data transfer safe in goods warehouses, deep freeze storage, crane systems or even in wind power plants. Whereas previously the suspended energy chai
