Plastic fuel tanks lead to increase in the fuel capacity as these can be moulded to the required shape and make use of all the open free spaces in the vehicle. Plastic fuel tanks can be moulded into any shape/size unlike the moulded tanks. The raw material, LLDPE (Linear Low Density Polythylene), has the following advantages: lightweight; longer life than conventional mild steel tanks; higher impact strength; higher ESCR (Environmental Stress Crack Resistance); can be moulded into any shape unlike sheet metal tanks; and can lead to better utilization of space in a vechile by covering more area thereby having more capacity.
