Heavy Cross-Section Solid Metal Gaskets

Metro Mechanicals offers Heavy Cross-Section Gaskets that have almost universal acceptance in the petroleum and processing industries. This gasket group is designed for use in closures, which are specially faced to accept them. Styles are machined to specialised cross-sections including oval, octagonal, lens and delta. Uses include high pressure oil-field drilling and production equipment pressure vessels, valve bonnets and piping systems. Heavy cross-section gaskets generally seal by the initial line contact or wedging action, which causes surface flow of the gasket metal. Some of the styles are pressure-actuated (i.e., the higher the contained pressure rises, the tighter the seal). Heavy cross-section gaskets may be the only solution for high pressure and high temperature services, providing an excellent mechanical joint. Heavy cross-section gaskets are essentially rectangular or triangular shaped, machined from solid metal. Available constructions for specific applications are described under individual style. Standard metal used to make heavy cross-section gaskets include any wrought or forged material that is suitable as a gasket. (Cast metals should not be considered). Metals requiring heat treatment after final machining should not be considered.
