RTV Silicone Adhesive Sealant

Acrabond Adhesives offers Acrabond KE 45 Type RTV Silicone Adhesive Sealant. This is a one-component product, thixotropic, non-flowable, which cures at room temperature and ambient humidity conditions, utilising an oxime neutral cure, low corrosion system. It is a general purpose sealing and bonding or FIP gasketing. KE 45 is a paste-like, one-component material that cures to a durable, resilient silicone rubber when exposed to moisture in the air at room temperature. It may be applied overhead or on sidewall joints and surfaces, and will adhere to glass, most types of wood, clean metals, silicone resins, ceramics, vulcanised silicone rubber, natural and synthetic fibres, as well as painted and many plastic surfaces. It can be used for general sealing as well as electrical insulation. It presents no offensive odour during curing and will not corrode metal. (Discoloration of copper-based metals may occur when hermetically sealed). In addition, KE 45 type RTV silicone adheres well on alkali materials such as mortar and white cement. Since it utilises moisture cure system, it must not be used in thickness greater than 6 mm (1/4 inch) or the material may never fully cure. For applications with section depths exceeding 6 mm or ¼ inch, Acrabond two-component silicones are recommended. Fully cured Acrabond KE 45 Type RTV adhesive/sealant can withstand long term temperatures of up to 450°F (232°C) and intermittent temperatures as high as 500°F (260°C). Applications: electrical insulation sealing; adhering auto and appliance trim including metal; fabric-backed plastics; bonding gaskets in heating and refrigeration units; attaching screw less brackets or nameplates, and tacking plastic materials to metal; sealing windows in oven doors and flues on gas appliances, flanged pipe joints, access doors; formed-in-place gasketing for gearboxes, compressors, pumps; sealing trailers, truck cabs; bonding and sealing appliance parts, bonding signs and sign letters; anti-abrasion coating; sealing marine cabins and windows; filleting and caulking joints in sheet metal stacks, duet work and equipment housings, etc.
