Torque motors

Hindustan Motors Manufacturing Company manufactures a range of electric motors. Torque motors are defined as induction motors with high slip characteristics and maximum starting torque with minimum input power. Torque motor design is such that, the speed will drop as the load increases. These motors find application in clamping of jigs and fixtures, remote operation of valves, indexing, automatic door openers, operation of press, interlocking systems, winding machines for wires, tapes, yarn, etc. In view of certain applications torque motors are also known as tension control motors. These motors are available in torque ranges of 5 kg.cm to 150 kg.cm. in 2, 4, 6 and 8-pole structure. The mounting can be either as per standard IEC frames or special on request. They are either totally enclosed surface cooled, totally enclosed fan cooled or screen protected forced cooled depend ing upon torque speed characteristics. The name plates would generally specify starting (stalling) torque, stall amperes and synchron ous speeds.
