TOOL FOR ALUMINIUM MACHINING

LMT Fette offers Turning Tools, LC 600A. It is manufactured as per the international standards. It is designed as diamond-coated tool. It is used for turning operations. For the first time, even the hardest of hard materials adheres reliably to the turning tool even when machining AlSi alloys. It has the potential for an increase in productivity of up to 24 times the processing volume compared with conventional carbide metals; by avoiding tool-changing times, the cost reduction can be up to EUR 400 per reversible blade. Roughing and finishing together also eliminates additional finishing with PCD. Another major cost-reduction factor is the cut in coolant costs of up to 99 % made possible by the use of the minimum-volume lubricating principle. It guarantees much greater machining reliability, in particular when compared with PCD on internal machining. For the machining of aluminium the BAL geometry has been specially developed to ensure reliable chip break-off; a ductile carbide metal substrate using specially selected materials reduces malfunctions and standstill times. An extensive programme of indexable and reversible blades is available for aluminium wheel and piston machining, with the additional advantage of having 1 to 3 extra blade edges compared with PCD.
