In-situ Portable Turning Machines

Shenoy Engineering offers In-situ Portable Turning Machines. This is also known as Flange Facer. Huge jobs like heat exchangers, turbine bodies, large pipes, reactors etc cannot be taken to the machine for machining operations like facing, weld-edge preparations etc. Break down in the process plants, at-site piping etc need portable turning machines to be taken to the job. To meet this long awaited need from various engineering segments, Shenoy Engineering Pvt Ltd, a well known Bangalore based SPM manufacturers, have developed flange facers to cover a range from dia 1500 mm to dia 3000 mm. The smaller machines to cover smaller range are in the anvil. Clamp it in the bore, for turning the OD; clamp it on the OD, for turning the ID. In both ID or OD clamping mode, we can machine the surface of the flange, produce chamfers on OD & ID. In ID clamp mode, 8 hydraulically operated cylinders and in OD clamp mode 4 hydraulically operated cylinders rigidly clamp the flange facer to the job. Flange facer is a multi-utility machine and it can also be used for doing other machining operations like drilling, boring, thread cutting etc by adding a self-powered unit head and using proper tooling and axes synchronization. Power cables from the rotary table are routed through a rotary joint connector with a universal joint which permits the flange facer to do the operation in vertical, horizontal and any angular position. The rotary drive unit consists of a pair of pre-loaded, extra heavy duty SKF taper roller bearings, located in an accurately dimensioned, single piece, forged alloy steel body, which supports the rotary table. The rotary drive is through a helical gear box and a motor. A vector VFD provides stepless rotational speeds from 1 to 20 RPM. The main body and the cross axis ram are made from high grade CI casting, heavily ribbed and stress-relieved. The 600 mm cross axis movement to cover a range of dia 1500 mm to dia 3000 mm is through a worm reduction gear box, servo motor and drive. The 100 mm vertical stroke is for setting the depth of cut and generally this is manually operated. It is possible to offer a servo motor and drive for the vertical axis and synchronize it with the cross axis movement.
