Hover Plates

Witte Far East Pte Ltd offers Hover Plates. These are used as bases for processing heavy, symmetrical parts on laser machines. Since the process requires a steady rotation of parts, the plates are equipped with a hovercraft function. The top surface of the plates, out of high-tensile aluminium, has a grid with threaded bores to enable location of clamping aids or fixtures to secure work pieces. The under surface consists of a microporous, permeable aluminium material. When 2 bar pressure is applied the hover plates rises to approx. 0.2 mm from machine table and are manually moved or rotated to the desired position during manufacturing process. Polyurethane slide blocks ensure a defined Z support of the fixture when in position as well as enabling repeat positioning of any fixture used on the hover plate. Simultaneously they protect the microporous air outlet surface during process. A shoulder around the outer contour allows accurate rotation of the plates on the laser machine table, which is equipped with a guide. The hover plates are equally suitable for certain manufacturing processes or on measuring machines with a flat smooth surface.
