Cylinder Components

Hyper Dynamics offers a variety of Cylinder Components. Since the cylinder tube uses internal threading, precise machining and concentricity control on the components becomes imperative. The result is a very compact design that lends itself to easy maintenance and replacement of seals. The port connections are welded on the cylinder itself as also special mountings if required, on the cylinder body. To eliminate warpage due to welding, the honing and boring of the cylinder takes place only after the welding operations. This produces a perfectly hones cylinder bore, the hallmark of a quality cylinder. The gland head houses a special single V or a twin set seal for the rod seal and O ring for static sealing. The gland seals are self-adjusting and pressure energized. The gland must be fully tightened down, so as to provide just the required space for the seal and prevent heel extrusion. A flexible wiper in the gland nut provides excellent wiping action, and is easily replaceable. The design allows the head to be removed and reassembled several times without having to replace the seals unless damaged. Rod components: the piston is sealed on the piston rod by an O-ring and retained by a nut locked with a set screw. The piston is conventionally made of closed grain cast iron and houses the seals at each end for double-acting cylinder. This arrangement provides for a thorough sweeping action of seals against the cylinder walls and prevents dust from entering the piston bearing area. This assures scratch free operation as compared to the piston where the seals are located in the centre. Special half canvas impregnated single V seals ensure a leak free action of lips and high strength heels for long life. Moreover, dismantling of the piston assembly is not necessary for replacement of seals, new seals can be simply slipped on.
