Grinding Wheel Balancer

When grinding wheels on cylindrical grinders become imbalanced in service due to uneven erosion, the workpiece finish is immediately affected. In such cases, the only conventional solution was to remove and balance the wheel on knife edges. The Grinding Wheel Balancer GWX 2000 from Baseline is a unique instrument which enables in-situ balancing of grinding wheels in a few minutes without the need for removal and downtime. It is based on the measurement of vibration on the wheelhead. Since the vibration is proportional to imbalance, the imbalance can be directly corrected by moving two weights to locations indicated on the unit. A simple procedure allows the determination of the proportionally constants, which are machine specific and have to be determined once only. The same can be saved on a PC using a dedicated piece of software for the purpose.
