Geomet is developed as a chromium-free solution to the environmental regulations enacted by the governments and automotive industry. It is a water-based, VOC compliant coating comprised of overlapping zinc and aluminium flakes in an inorganic binder. Geomet is ELV and RoHS compliant. Advantages: excellent resistance to corrosion (5 percent neutral salt spray life up to 1000 hrs); better adhesion; completely free from hydrogen embrittlement; heat resistance (no effect on properties of Geomet coated parts up to 280 degree celsius); resistance to bimetallic corrosion (excellent performance when in contact with aluminium and zinc); pollution free process; overall coverage (chemical penetrates in small crevices and gaps, (i.e., springs, inside of pipes, etc); and resistance to organic products. The process has many advantages then the conventional zinc plating and hot dip galvanising.
