ifm electronic has launched at Hannover Fair 2013 a new Photoelectric Sensors of the O6 Wetline Series that features high performance: the diffuse reflection sensors provide noise-immune background suppression. Even highly reflective backgrounds, such as stainless steel, do not affect the background suppression. The sensing range is independent of the type and colour of the object to be detected. A special feature is the automatic sensitivity adjustment which guarantees safe functioning even in case of vapour, smoke and strongly reflective environments. The clearly defined round light spot in the operating area provides consistent light intensity in the light cone. Scattered light around the light spot that could disturb other sensors by reflections is avoided. This guarantees additional safety. The compact O6 is perfectly sealed. The two setting potentiometers have a double sealing. Front lens and potentiometer are plane. This allows residue-free cleaning. The stainless steel housing provides the high protection rating IP 68/IP 69 K. The transparent black housing cover provides good contrast for the integrated LEDs (operating state, switch point) so that they are clearly visible even in bright environments. The coated front lens consists of resistant, splinter-free plastic. In addition to the diffuse reflection sensor, through-beam and retro-reflective sensors in the same hygienic design are also available. With special reflectors and connectors that withstand cleaning processes, ifm electronic provides a complete system solution for demanding applications in the food industry.
