In-Line Glue Detection System

NextFirst Engineering Technologies offers an In-Line Glue Detection System. The system description and application is illustrated in this brief case study: a component manufacturer was using magnets in component assembly. Glue was applied on the magnets before assembly. Defects in the magnet, size and quantity of glue, if not detected upfront, could result in the complete assembly being scrapped. The manufacturer approached the company to build an automated system to reduce quality rejects at assembly level. Solution: the company studied the process and built an in-line vision based inspection system that could detect mix up of magnet sizes and monitor amount of glue dispensed. The system had a throughput of 500 per hour. Introduction of the system reduced type I and II errors from 5% to 0.002%.
