Complete Image Processing System

Industrial image processing is on the rise. With the SRV, Schunk now has a complete image-processing sensor in the programme. It includes a camera, lighting and electronics and thus able to complete a number of image-processing tasks without any extra peripherals. It can check if components like pins, rings, nuts, bolts, etc., are present and complete, it carries out assembly and characteristics checks; it recognises blow-out edges and sorts out defective parts or makes sure in pick & place applications that even parts with very different rotary positions are reliably gripped – even flexible objects such as cables and hoses. In the simplest case, one only needs to connect the sensor to a power supply and programme it using two keys. It then issues a signal using the control line to indicate whether or not a part is present. For more demanding tasks, there is also software available that is designed to help detect objects and positions. Gripper with an integrated camera: the SRV is also available in a separate head. The camera element is so small (25 x 28 x 29 mm) that it can be integrated into a gripper. The SRV will also be available with an integrated camera for the grippers of the series PGN plus, PZN-plus, PCB as well as JGP and JGZ. This way Schunk customers have the option to combine sorting and quality assurance process or to achieve a degree of accuracy in gripper positioning that can alternative only be reached of great expense.
