GMT offers an Electro Mechanical Actuator, Model VA, with rotary output and axial shift. This is available in two sizes -120 and 150. These actuators are used for clamping of components on fixtures used on the following special purpose machines: rotary table indexing machines; transfer lines; and for clamping components on pallets used on transfer lines. 40% duty cycle motor is used with internal brake for applications, for instant stopping of output shaft. This model consists of rotary drive unit and shifting unit: a rotary drive which consists of motor assembly, planetary gear assembly and slipping clutch; and shifting unit which consists of centrifugal weights, pinions, rack and spring. This leads to a stroke of 18mm on the automatic reversing arrangement. The clamping and declamping ratios offered are: 1:2, 1:2:5 and 1:4. These ratios are achieved by maintaining the angle of the shell in the declamping direction steeper than the angle in the clamping direction.
