Pneumatic Handling Modules

Amcats offers Pneumatic Handling Modules. Although, Koganei manufactures the complete line of pneumatic products from filters, regulators to cylinders, it specializes in developing pneumatic actuators. It has added to the pneumatic actuator advanced positioning precision and high rigidity. Now, the Koganei Alpha Series further enhances the drive module concept, supporting superior applications and labor savings in Factory Automation line design and manufacturing, with higher performance.
The Systematic Handling Module (SHM) series of products simplify design and reduce the size of the system, the cost of the system & also the time required in installing the product. These modules perform turning (rotary), clamping (gripping), reversing (rotary), shifting (linear), cushioning and error absorption (compliance) operations. The modular construction is such that all of these modules can be connected to each other without using any adapting plates in between. These modules come with factory fitted miniature quick fitting type speed controllers, shock absorbers and position sensors. The fixing module is also available for connecting Z axis cylinder piston to the other modules.
SHM series is a flexible solution as it can be used in many ways. The modules can be mounted one below the other on the Z axis of an XYZ Pick and Place Robot or they can be placed separately as part of an assembly line or they can be part of a system employing both the configurations. The modules can be connected to each other without adapting plates, even when different sized (S, M, L) modules are used. The different types of functions possible with the modules are:

1. Shifting – The shifting module can be used for moving the gripper or a workpiece up and down within a predetermined stroke. The stroke can be varied by rotating the stroke adjustment screw. It is useful for constant force insertion and for lifting.
2. Cushioning – The cushioning module is a shifting module with a shock absorbing spring attached so to provide cushioning and protecting workpieces.
3. Turning – The turning module can be used for rotating the gripper or workpiece by 90º or 180º.
4. Reversing – The Reversing module can be used for flipping the workpiece or reversing the gripper. The angle of the reversal can be varied because of intermittent holes where the adjustment screw can be inserted.
5. Error Absorption – The compliance module is a positioning error absorption module with excellent response and repeatability. It can be used for error absorption in the Z and a directions and reduce galling during workpiece insertion.
6. Gripping – The clamping module is a pneumatic gripper. Because the cylinder operates asynchronously, it has superior positioning during clamping. The parallel clamping is possible for small as well as large workpieces.
7. Mounting – The fixing module is a mounting module used for connecting the Z axis cylinder to the other modules.
