Gmr Autoconfigure Switch

Bimba Manufacturing Company has recently introduced a new GMR Autoconfigure Switch. This low-profile switch has a unique, patented auto-detect feature that automatically configures the switch circuitry to function as a sinking or sourcing switch, depending on the type of load connected to the switch. Not only does this take all the guesswork out of system set-up, it also enables the use of one switch for most electronic switching needs. This solid state switch uses new giant magnetoresistive (GMR) technology to offer more features and functionality in the smallest package of any actuator position-sensing switch. In fact, the switch fits in a track located within a cylinder's geometry and does not protrude. The Bimba GMR Autoconfigure Switch also offers faster response and greater repeatability than other position-sensing switches. Not only can a cylinder operate at higher cycle rates and increased speed, it can also perform with greater accuracy. Low, symmetrical hysteresis is another advantage of the Bimba GMR autoconfigure switch. Hysteresis means that a switch will turn on in one location when a cylinder extends but turn off at a different location when the cylinder retracts. But the symmetrical nature of the hysteresis in this switch produces improved accuracy, and ease of setup is ensured. In addition, the switch is a fault-tolerant device that includes overvoltage, transient and reverse polarity circuitry protection. This helps reduce machine downtime caused by irregular currents and prevent switch damage from voltage problems.
