Anti Crane-Collision Switch

Electronic Switches has developed a safety device specially for anti collision of overhead cranes, It is specially used for two cranes on the same rail. When installed the two cranes cannot collide each other during operation, unit has a sensing head and a crane and the reflector is fixed on another crane in front of the unit, When two cranes come nearer to each other, the sensor head receives signal reflected from the reflector. With this, presence of another crane is sensed and movement of approaching crane is stopped in that particular direction. However, the crane can move in other direction (away from another crane) any time. Same way another unit is fixed on another crane and its reflector is fixed on the first crane. So every time when both the cranes come closer within a specified distance towards each other, movement is stopped and collision of two cranes is avoided automatically. This sensing range can be adjusted by screw-driver adjustment provided on the unit, which depends on the braking action of the crane. The unit works on 220 V AC supply and offers potential-free relay output. This output is interlocked with the contactor for that particular direction. The unit also has a facility to mount the same on vertical or horizontal surface. This can be decided at any time and the sensor head can be shifted from side position to top position. The sensing range available is either 3 in or 10 m.
