Global-Tech Corpn offers a range of absolute encoders, manufactured by TR Electronic, Germany. These give the user a single source for accurate and reliable measurement in a wide variety of applications. Unlike incremental measuring systems, absolute encoders do not depend on a reference to an original system setup to give an accurate reading. The benefit to the user is immediate and accurate feedback after power is restored, even if there was movement in the system. The measuring principle is based on reading a pattern of infra-red lights through a coded optical disc. The pattern, detected by photosensors, is then interpreted, scaled, and translated into one of the many industry standard interfaces. The robust construction of TR encoders permits them to be utilized in many harsh environments, including shock, vibration, dust and extremes in temperature.
