Multi Zone Control System

A multi-zone PID (proportional, integral, derivative) control system that is faster to install and more efficient to operate than discrete controllers has been introduced by Red Lion Controls. The new modular controller integrates easily with PCs and PLCs in production control systems used in plastics, packaging, chemical, food and other processing industries. It monitors and maintains desired set points in pressure, flow, temperature, voltage and other process variables. With its DIN-rail mounting, the modular controller takes up less space, requires less wiring and does not require any panel cut-outs, compared with standalone controls. It also reduces resources required for processing and scan time lag in the PLC. The system is comprised of a master module and up to 16 single or dual loop PID modules. Configuration and calibration are accomplished easily using the company"s Crimson software (supplied at no additional cost). With the software"s built-in drivers, graphical interface and "drag-and-drop" data mapping, multi-zone integration is accomplished in minutes, rather than the hours required for older systems. Optional dual PID modules can expand system capacity to 32 zones, saving space and reducing scan time compared with discrete node solutions.
