EDS Insulation Fault Location Systems

For more than 60 years, Dipl-Ing W Bender GmbH & Co KG offers measuring, monitoring and protective systems to monitor the electrical safety of machines and systems. Manual insulation fault location on expanded IT systems is a time-consuming and costly affair. The solution: Bender insulation fault location systems (EDS). The design of the EDS system is based on the use of an A-Isometer insulation monitoring device with integrated test current generator. In the event of an insulation fault, the system will automatically start to locate it. This is achieved by sending a test current signal back to the source via the faulty current path and PE conductor. All the measuring current transformers in the circuit record the signal value and output it to the relevant insulation fault evaluators. The fact that each measuring current transformer is assigned to a specific outgoing circuit means that the technician can locate the fault quickly and accurately via the indication on the location system. Portable insulation fault location systems can be used additionally to the fixed installed systems. Current clamps are placed around the wires of the relevant outgoing circuits and the test current signals are checked; in this way, the faulty outgoing circuit/location can be identified.
