Ripple Control

Elster Metering offers Ripple control. This is a well-proven technology since many decades to control consumers in the whole grid for load optimisation. This is done by switching On/Off the non-critical loads and the control of other consumers like street lighting, etc. The components of a ripple control (RC) system are the load control centre, installed in the utility control level, which controls all connected substations. The RC transmitters with the couplings are installed in the system, which inject the RC signals into the grids, and in the grids there are RC receivers at the consumers site, which execute the transmitted commands. The overall system constitutes of local control units: it operates the peripherals for the control and monitoring of RC transmitter; transmitter: it injects the ripple control signals into medium and high voltage grid of utility; and receiver: the ripple control receiver receives the signal and executes the received command.
