Energy Saving Lighting Control Equipment

Atco's principal specialisation is energy saving lighting control equipment and optimised performance of lamps and lighting systems. The Atco magnetic ballast range is wide and offers a choice accommodating single ended compact fluorescent as well as linear tubes. Energy efficient lighting is a significant cost management opportunity and Atco's low loss and super low loss fluorescent ballast options are at the heart of that opportunity. They offer significant and permanent reduction in energy usage, the service life is not maintenance dependent. Atco ballast technology is easily applied which provides significant permanent load reduction. The choice of insulating materials and their operating temperatures determine the ballast life. Atco ballasts use Class H insulation materials which are designed for temperatures up to 1800C, thus ensuring maximum service life. The permitted maximum working temperature of the winding is designated 'tw'. The adherence to this temperature guarantees an average life of 10 years of continuous usage. If the temperature in application is lower, then the life is correspondingly higher. The minimised power losses of low loss fluorescent ballasts also offers luminaire design benefits. An inefficient ballast means high losses, which in turn leads to high temperatures which may cause other components in the luminaire to run too hot and fail prematurely. The Atco magnetic ballast options offer significant design solutions, eg, standard EC ballast has a typical increase of 550C above its surroundings. Atco low loss LLEC ballasts has a typical increase of 350C above its surroundings and Atco super low loss OMC has typical increase of only 250C above its surroundings.
