The 2031 Sound Level Meter is a precision instrument with Type1 accuracy as defined by IS: 9779-1981. It has the 'A', 'C' and 'Lin' frequency weighing. The instrument has three time weighing, 'Slow', 'Fast', and 'Impulse', allowing measurement for various applications. The display works in the maximum hold when 'Manual Reset' is used, while in the "Auto Reset" mode, the display is continuously updated with the maxima of the previous duration. The transducer is a 1/4" electret condenser microphone, housed in a detachable body. The body also contains a pre-amplifier, which allows the microphone to be remotely mounted via an extension cable. The signal from the RMS detector is converted to a dB value and is digitized by a 12-bit A to D converter and processed for display functions. As three ranges cover the entire measurement range from 34 - 134 dB the entire operation of the instrument is simplified. The 2031 are precise, versatile, rugged and portable and available at a very affordable price.
