Digital Probes

Solartron is the world’s largest manufacturer of ‘Pencil’ style electronic gauging probes. These probes are either spring or vacuum retract types or are pneumatically actuated with feather touch (low force) variants available. The digital probe is a gauging transducer combined with conditioning electronics in a permanently connected “smart connector” or PIE (Probe Interface Electronics). Solartron’s digital probes combine the benefit of high accuracy with the flexibility of an easy-to-use orbit digital interface. Using the integral PIE connector, they can be connected to PCs and PLCs via network, or directly to the Solartron digital readout. The elegant simplicity of the concept means that over 200 transducers of this type can be used simultaneously on the same system. The digital probe is one of the extensive ranges of orbit modules available for use with the orbit measurement system, which provides an easy way to construct and maintain a complete measurement system of up to 372 orbit modules.
