Surface Roughness (Ra) Gauge, Portable

SBS Precision Systems (India) offers a rugged, portable Ra Gauge capable of being carried from sample to sample for batch work, one-off or higher production runs. Readings are activated by push button and take less then 1 second. Equipped with LCD display and memory to store 10,000 Ra readings, data can be downloaded and firmware upgraded via optional software and RS232 interface. The gauge is suitable for measuring following types of surface: ground, sanded, polished, honed, super-finished, fine-turned, shot-blast. The measurement range is Ra. 0.025 micro meter to 2.0 micro meter, and measurement size 5 mm x 1 mm. Principle of operation: detectors inside measurement head measures distribution of specular and scattered laser light reflected from surface. Increased roughness creates less specular reflection and more scattered light reflection. Electronics and software digitise signals and calculate Ra (average) surface roughness.
