Variable Temperature Calibration Bath

The purpose of calibration is to characterise the sensor output so that the measurement data can be more accurately obtained and interpreted. The calibration is performed at one or several temperatures, depending on the accuracy requirements. The International Temperature Scale (ITS-90) defines the primary fixed temperature calibration points from argon at -189.3422°C to silver at 961.780°C to calibrate standard platinum resistance thermometer (SPRT). Other themiometers are then calibrated by comparison, in a constant temperature bath either directly against an SPRT or a secondary standard probe which has been calibrated itself with the SPRT. In this way the temperature scale is transferred down to the working thermometers. The accuracy of temperature sensors, used by industry depends on precision comparison calibration that transfers the temperature scale from the calibration system. Rosemount Aerospace calibration system meets the full requirement of the International Temperature Scale of 1990 (ITS-90), which has replaced its predecessor, viz, International Practical Temperature Scale of 1968 (IPTS-68). The typical calibration system consists of a temperature controller, heating and/or cooling devices, a calibration bath and a temperature standard. The calibration bath has a builtin stirring motor to thoroughly mix the calibration fluid, ensuring temperature stability and unifon-nity of ±0.001°C or secondary temperature standard with accuracy of ±0.01°C is used as reference for the calibration of temperature sensors.
