Submerged Arc Wire - Flux Combination for Impact Toughness up to –62°C

Super Alloys & Metals Pvt Ltd offers Submerged Arc Wire - Flux Combination for welding of carbon steels. It is a high productivity mechanized welding process with substantial operating advantages both in terms of cost and quality. It is indeed a preferred process for groove welds of thickness greater than 19 mm, to be welded in flat position. However, for applications requiring impact toughness at lower temperatures down to – 62°C, the limiting factor is availability of indigenous welding consumables for submerged arc welding. Costly, imported welding consumables, have to be used such as - high purity wires, sometimes containing nickel, in combination with highly basic neutral fluxes. The wire-flux combination is super arc EH12K + super shield C1. The extensive development work has been carried out to develop and test this wire-flux combination. This wire-flux combination is certified as conforming to AWS/ SFA 5.17 F7A8/P8 EH12K. The wire is a high purity wire with optimum level of C, Mn & Si and low levels of S, P, N and O. The S level is typically below 0.005%. Supershield C1 flux is a high basic, neutral flux which ensures that the weld metal is clean with low levels of S, P, N & O. The S level is maintained typically below 0.005%.The typical chemical and mechanical properties of weld metal obtainable with Superarc EH12K wire and supershield C1 are given below.

Typical all weld chemical composition: (%) C =0.07, Mn=1.67, Si=0.67, S= 0.003, P =0.010

Typical all weld mechanical properties: UTS = 510 MPa, YS = 415 MPa, Elng =33% and Impact Toughness at -62C > 55 J.

The wire-flux combination has excellent operating characteristics giving self detaching slag & well formed bead profile and matches the performance of imported brands.
