Circular welding spm

The special purpose machine for circular welding manufactured by Sumax Automation Systems is suitable for welding of components involving full circular (360?) welding, with a provision for adjustable overlap. A facility is also provided for partly circular (less than 360?) or sector welding. The welding processes, such as MIG/ CO2 or TIG, can be used by connecting standard power sources. The machine is modular in construction and can be easily set for various jobs. The operation cycle is automatic. After loading the job, the operator presses start cycle push button. The job is clamped pneumatically, the welding torch moves to welding position, rotary movement and welding starts. After completion of desired weld run, welding is stopped automatically, the torch retracts and the job is declamped. The welded job is removed manually. A low cost semiautomatic version of the machine is available, where the clamping action and torch movement is mechanical. This is ideally suitable for very small batch production or for single/individual jobs of different sizes. In the automatic version, pneumatic controls are used for job clamping and for torch movement. Advanced programmable logic controller is used to carry out the operation cycle, automatically. Main advantages over conventional welding: weld quality is enhanced and consistent, weld finish is uniform and productivity is increased. A semiskilled operator is required to do the job instead of highly skilled welder. The machines are available in different models with job weight capacity from 10 to 250 kg
