Gleason Works (India) Pvt Ltd offers a Worm Milling Machine, Model Gleason P 90 WM. A large number of industrial gearboxes utilise worm drives to achieve speed reduction. The most popular methods used to manufacture worm drives are rolling, milling and grinding. Considering all factors, the most efficient process is milling, hardening and grinding. Milling allows manufacturers to control and significantly reduce the amount of stock remaining for grinding. The Gleason P 90 WM represents a proven machine concept, which has been modified and optimised for worm milling. The redesigned milling head is compatible with tools ranging from 160-250 mm. Sufficient power and torque allow for the use of HSS milling tools as well as tungsten carbide styled tools. The swivel angle is capable of manufacturing up to 7 start worms to 8mm in module range with an accuracy to class 6 DIN. The P 90 WM machine is an ideal solution for worm milling applications. Based on the proven P 90 machine base, the P 90 WM is equipped with a 18 kW cutting spindle allowing worm milling up to module 8.
