Automated Honing Machine Runs Unattended F990

The automated EC-3500 power stroked honing machine is designed to provide consistent bore size and finish without the labour cost of a dedicated operator. With no "shift-to-shift" variance, the machine offers consistent and increased production capacity, and nearly double ihe speed of existing honing machines, the company says. Loading and unloading time is drastically reduced. The automated and standard machine features a two stage feed pressure which reduces cycle times by allowing removal of the bulk of the stock at a high feed pressure, and then finishing the part at a lower pressure. The feed force available on the machine is more than twice that of previous honing machines for maximum stock removal, yet the wide range of pressure adjustments allows greater fine tuning of the operation being performed. In addition, the mdchine offers adjustable spindle speeds up to 3,000 RPM and stroke rates up to 500 RPM for increased productivity. The machine accommodates a wide variety of parts, including odd sizes, unusual shapes, and those with keyways and splines. All setup of critical functions is performed via the operator"s station, without lifting any machine covers.
