Vmc Has Longer Y Travel

The VMC- 1060 vertical machining centre is an improved version of the company"s Model 1050. Features include more Y-axis travel for a larger work envelope (40" by 24" by 25"), and the PC-2100 CNC, which offers graphical programming, Fanuc part program translation, and touch screen simplicity in a PC-based Windows NT environment, says the builder. The machine"s design features a Cat 40, dual range spindle that delivers full power at only 500 RPM in low range, and up to 8,000 RPM in high range. Material removing performance is 20 cubic inches per minute in steel, with better than ?0.00002" positioning accuracy and ?0.0000 1 " repeatability (JIS standard). To handle the 20-HP main motor, the company mates a reinforced spindle to an extra-wide main column. Vertical travel is supported by two hardened and ground steel box ways. Another feature of the machine is the use of four steel box ways for the Y-axis travel. This provides additional table support for heavy part loads, right up to the table edges. Additional rigidity is provided by 1.5" diameter ballscrews which are driven by Yaskawa servomotors and drives. Other machine features include a servo driven, bidirectional automatic toolchanger (24 tools standard or 40 tools optional) and an automatic chip removal system. Options include rigid tapping, fourth-axis rotary table, and a portable, electronic handwheel with axis jog control. The machine can also be outfitted with a DynaPath CNC.
